Nitto 555's

they look like the Xenon scoops, not the CDC...

xtweakerx- the 555 is a great tire, for all around use, i can't speak for the 555R, but i have known some people to run the Nitto DR's and they loved them, but not for a daily driven vehicle. if you have an extra $500 or so to throw around every 12-15K miles, go for it, but be careful in the rain...any racing type tires, be it a DR or a road race design tire, will not handle that great in the rain, that's why i went with the regular 555's on my wife's daily driver, when she lets me make it a garage queen, i will then put the DR's on it, but not until...

at the track, no true STREET tire is optimum, but i do know the 555's i had on my 2001 Bullitt, hooked better than the goodyears that came on it on the street...if you want to race the car, get a racing tire, but if you are drag racing, get the Drag Radial, not the road race tire which looks identical to the DR...

anyone with 255/50R17 Nitto 555 on the stock 17 inch rims? They are the same diameter but a bit wider. The tires are designed for a wheel that is between 8 and 10 inches. I think someone here has this setup? 255/50R17 Nitto 555 on all four corners with the stock 17 inch wheel

Are those the CDC smooth scoops?

No, xenon sanded down.

Are those the 295/45-18s in the rear? How about some pics from the rear to show the width? Also if you took the pics with the sun behind you shining on the car they would turn out brighter. They look pretty darn good on the car.

kool- yes they are 295/45/18 in the rear, the pic don't do it justice, the car is sitting at an angle in my driveway, and it's not sitting level. in the garage, the tire FILLS the fenderwell nicely, exactly the look we were going for...once the 295's wear out, they will be replaced with the 305/45/18 DR's from Nitto...

JT- some people have those tires on the factory rims, but to be honest, there is not enough difference in looks over the 235/55's that came on the car...sorry

oh yeah, once i get the car cleaned up (hopefully this weekend) i will be taking a whole assortment of pics and posting them...these were just quick pics i took once i mounted the wheels...

07stangGT that thing is definitely stealth. I think you've reinstated my love for all that is black as night. Someone elses bullitt green type color had me almost change my mind, phew! I need to just spray this bad boy!

which tire will be closer to the stock tire?

Will my car look retarded w/ stock front tires on the stock rims,

with a 275 nitto on the stock rims on the back?

If the 275 nitto is shorter than stock tire will be it be noticeable?

When people look at my car and see bigger front tires than rear? That would suck.

If you keep stock sized tires on the front I would stick to the 255/50-17 for the back.
The reason being the stock tire(235/55) is 27.2" tall and 9.3" wide.
The 255/50 is 27.1" tall and 10" wide.
The 275/40 is 25.7" tall and 10.8" wide.
You definitely do not want taller tires on the front!!!!!

damn it

i just looked on nitto's site they dont offer anything on a 17 inch rim that would come close to stock tire height, what bull****.

Yet M&H has a 28 tall tire for a 17 inch rim, i would think about going with them just worried about them on the daily driver if they only last 5 to 7k miles. I didnt really want to buy another set of wheels.
