Roush Need a little help

I went to smog that Saleen Explorer thing sitting in my garage and the computer had a couple of codes in its memory. The car runs fine and passes all the emissions testing but fails immedately because the codes come back after being cleared. I need the assistants of anyone who has the knowledge to correct the problem. Here is what the codes read exactly from the OBD II Diagnotics sheet:

The MIL is commanded On.

Emissions-Related Powertrain DTCs, Mode 3:
Electronic Control Unit ID: 10
P0171
System too Lean (Bank 1)
P0174
System too Lean (Bank 2)

Continuously Monitored Systems DTC, Mode 7:
Electronic Control Unit ID: 10
P0171
System too Lean (Bank 1)
P0172
System too Lean (Bank 2)

... First off, for those that don't remember, I removed the powerdyne POS supercharger and replaced it with a MAC CAI. I'm not sure exact what lbs of fuel pressure the injectors are but they are yellow top ford part# F4SE - A1B. The o2 sensors have already been replaced and I was told that the computer should adjust for the blower not being there. Anyone with ideas, please feel free to share. I'm trying not to go with a custom chip / dyno tune if this problem is easily solvable without that expense. Thanks for all the help:nice:

Gee, Robert, nobody answered your thread (at least not in public).

I can't really answer your question but superficially it seems to me that if you removed the supercharger that the engine should be running rich & not lean as the fuel delivery usually is increased with the addition of forced induction to offset the extra air being delivered to the combustion chamber.

And the additional heat created by the blower.

But given that the configuration now is so much different then the previous setup with the supercharger, it suprises me that the computer would just be able to compensate for it. I mean, intake temps are different, volume of air, etc., etc. So timing, fuel ratio, etc. would be completely different then before.

But maybe you can back down on things, like going to a bigger pulley on a SC rather then a smaller one, and not get it retuned?

Ok, I'll admit, I'm clueless here and will shutup... :p

...yeah guys, thanks for all the help :notnice: :p
I've been talking with guys on the explorer boards to get there input, as well as the parts guy at a local Ford dealership and a tune shop. Bart, the o2 sensors were just replaced last year (less then 5,000 miles on them). The main problem, besides the blower not being smog legal in CA, is that the codes came up both with the blower and with the CAI!!! I've got a tune scheduled for next Tues that I hope will solve the problem so I can go get it smogged. It runs great and passes the emissions test no problem but the codes make it fail on the spot.......LOVE CA EMISSIONS TESTING. Your car is polluting less then the maxium amount allowed but we'll fail you because the computer has a few minor codes that don't even affect the emissions or the driveablitly of the car :notnice:
