In my 04 Mach 1 with only 10,000 miles I hear (and feel) the tranny clunk when I hit the gas at very low RPMs for example if im in 2nd only at 10 mph or less and i hit the gas i hear it clank n clunk for a second and then it starts picking up normally....i think this is just normal of mustangs tho...my 95 gt and 89 5.0 gt both made the same exact sound...even when at 1 mph in first gear when u first start to accelerate.
Does anyone know why stangs do this!?

Letting the clutch out too hard? Might have bad clutch engagement. The actually "knocking" and stuff is drive line slack, mostly in the trans slip yoke and drive shaft U-joints.

At least its not like what I had to deal with in my last car (SVT Focus)...first gear, if shifted into second aggressively, would bottom out the motor mounts! That means loud CLUNK when the motor hit the mounts HAH! Sad thing is it did it in 2nd-3rd too :nonono:

Driveline slack.

I hear the same thing when i'm in drivethroughs. Accell a bitg and then kick the clutch in fast and you'll hear the driveline clunk off the wall.

The key it to adapt your driving style so that you get on and off the power gradually and don't shock the driveline enough to make it go clank. When you push the clutch it at low speeds, do it easily instead of quick.

Lol yeah all my stangs did it .. its not when i get off the clutch its when im in gear say first or 2nd n very low rpm like 1 rpm..u hear the clank wen u step on the gas then u start going normally lol
