Electric fans

Anyone using them for a daily driver?
I am finishing up my engine biuld and think this maybe the way to go for me. At least to clean up the engine bay.
What I have is a mild 331 should be about 375 flywheel peak and about 285
A/C and T-5
average. What would be a good set up for electric fans.
@ 10" or 1 16"
Any advice is appreciated.

I am running a 347 stroker. Mech fan w/ 2- 10" pushers for backup,mainly because of the underdrive pulleys.

im using the taurus 3.8L fan assy with shroud.
works everyday and on the hottest of days.
the foxbody guys use the same thing with a.c. on and some live in the hottest parts of america. arizona, cali, fla, texas.
i run a 180 t-stat and the car stays at 170-180 in 100deg muggy heat stopped in traffic..
it free flows in the wind when above 30mph, and hardly ever comes on while driving in the hotter days.
it never comes on when its a cool day like 50-65deg.
going with an elec fan will free up a little h.p. to....although not even noticable.

and it saves gas on long drives compared to those loud flex fans..
also the water pump will live longer (less stress)..
i cant come up with a reason why you shouldnt install one.

Early 90s Taurus fan. Fits the stock II radiator perfectly, gives you two speeds, and flows WAY more than any aftermarket electric fan.

I have two Mr. Gasket 10" electric puller fans. My car runs at 180 on the hottest day. It used to run really really hot

Yeah, do an elec. If you can do the Taurus fan, that's your best bet. If you plan on going custom, do a Lincoln MKVIII fan. That's what I'm going to be doing, but I also have an aluminum radiator and have to customize where it sits to get the fan to fit.

Mustang J: your car is cooling fine with two 10" fans? Did you mount them on a fan shroud or are the fans just mounted straight to the radiator? Stock-type radiator?

For those with electric fans, did you need to upgrade your alternator? A single 16" Mr. Gasket fan draws only 11.4 amps. Seems even a lowly stock 40 amp alternator could handle that (I would probably upgrade to at least a 60 amp alternator though).

Thanks everyone for chimming in.
I did get a Taurus fan so I guess I will be OK.
I just need to know how to PROPERLY wire it up.
I'm really not that comfortable with mapping out my own electrical system
I would like the fans to run on high with the A/C on and low without.
Is that possible to do and if so would anyone mind explaining how.
I assume tap the battery for power on low (this should also allow the fans to continue to run after shutting off the car if needed) but what about with the A/C -tap into the power running to the compressor? While still having constant power from the battery.
If this will work I will need 12 relays - correct? Which wire on the fan controls what (ie low power high power ground etc.)
Anyone in the know please let ME know.

Why 12 relays? 1 for lo-speed and another for hi-speed should be all thats needed.

I am also using 2-10-in fans on my II. The fans mount directly to my aluminum radiator. I upgraded the alt to a 1-wire 100 amp unit.

No cooling problems with two 10" fans? Even sitting in traffic on a hot summer day?

I see from your picture jeffnoel that you have a nice aluminum radiator...no doubt that helps.
