Gas door from newer car on 67 fb?

[67 GTA]

I saw a project somewhere about putting a gas door from a Taurus on the side of a classic mustang. Everyone that owns a mustang close to my year(maybe more) knows how frustrating it can be to fill up and the restriction from the sharp angle of the tube going into the gas tank causing the gas to spew out. I was thinking of extending the tube to the side of the car(rear quarter) and putting a "flip open" gas door from another car on my fastback. Does anyone have pics or know of any links about this? I can't remember where I saw it.

I've thought of that too. Though I don't like the look of a gas door on the fender like that. I have a coupe and not sure what I'd like to do when the time comes.

For you, I'd copy the Eleanor style and put in the recessed one like they did. I think the 67 super snake project thread which you'll see on this site did a great job of relocating it and making it look awesome!

An 80's Dodge Caravan lip can be grafted into the body. A 71 Mach 1 Flip Open gas cap fits perfect within this recess.
