Just being curious.
what oil do some of you guys run?
What brand filter?
Whats done to your motor?
How many miles?
Do you use any additives such as lucas, Slick50 ect.?
Do you Seafoam?

since the gentleman before me used 5w-20 Penzoil conventional with a Fram Filter, i stepped it up to 5w-30 motorcraft synthetic Blend with a Mobile-1 filter and the car has 103,000 on it with a 96 stock 2v

I use Mobil 1 synthetic 5W-20 with a Motorcraft oil filter.
I have not done anything to my motor except paint a few parts and clean it thoroughly.
It has 25k miles.
I do not use any additives.
I only use SeaFoam in the gas and the oil. I do not aspirate SeaFoam into the intake air charge but I absolutely did on my GT :hail2:
I think you choice of oil and filter is good.
If your car has 103k you need to do some preventitive maintenance.

You can see the parts I painted in these pics, the driver's coil cover is still a work in progress:

The TB was all corroded looking, painted it black and painted the IAC also:

Painted the crossover bleed plug:

Motorcraft 5w20 / 5w30 with Motorcraft filter. I refuse to use any filter other than Motorcraft. Oil is changed every 3k on Motorcraft oil or every 6k if I run Mobil with the filter changed at 3k. No additives...IMO if you are changing your oil regularly, there is no need.

Kilgore: How the hell do you keep everything so clean without tearing the engine apart?

Motorcraft 5w-20 (synthetic blend) with Motorcraft filter.
I think I'm switching to 5w-30 though because I hear a very loud tick at idle when the engine is warmed up.
My engine itself is stock, except for a K&N air filter.
No, I do not use additives. The additives are already in the oil that we buy.
I use seafoam every 5k-10k into the gas tank and through the PCV. I'd be scared to put it into the crankcase.
My engine is 17,500 miles young.

currently castrol syntec 5w20 and a motorcraft filter but i'll usually run motorcraft 5w20 (it was easier to carry one big jug instead of 6 individual quarts)

o2, mostly stock with 39k
never use oil additives. as mentioned before oil and gasoline already come with detergents
i'm planning on changing my plugs soon so i might run some seafoam before i change them

Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 10W-30
I Only Use The Motorcraft Filter
Bolts Ons and such
109,000 Miles
No additives
Seafoam Everytime I Oil Change...Blast that **** throught the Intake Manifold

What oil do some of you guys run? 5w30 Motorcraft

What brand filter? Motorcraft FL-820-S

Whats done to your motor? Stock internally, intake/tb/plenum/x-pipe/catback

How many miles? 111k

Do you use any additives such as lucas, Slick50 ect.? Nay

Do you Seafoam? In a few hours for the first time, then changing my oil a couple hundred later.

Engine: Kendall 10w-30 full synthetic
Tranny: Mobil 1 synthetic ATF
Defferential: Royal Purple max gear 75w-90

I use seafoam in through the IAC vacuum and in the gas, not in the oil. I worked for a petroleum company distibuter for 4 years and i dont want to alter the specs that i rely on from Kendall

Royal Purple: Usually 10w30
Interval: usually 4 months or whenever im really bored.
Filter: Fram ToughGuard or K&N if they have it in stock
Tranny: Royal purple Syncrotech(or whatever its called)
Interval: once a year
Diff: Royal Purple Gear Oil
Interval: once a year (same as tranny)
Additives: Royal Purple includes them already.
Seafoam: not yet, havent gotten around to it yet, the bottle is sitting on the shelf.

what oil do some of you guys run?
This year I'm running Amsoil XL 5W-20. I only change the oil once a year because I only put 5-6k on the car. I was running Mobil1 5W-30 but since it's reformulation, it's not worth the premium price (to me) any more.

What brand filter?
Amsoil EAO filter. A lot of people feel these are the best filter going. It's only a couple of dollars more than the M1 I was using. A lot of guys here run the Motorcraft, which is a good filter as well.

Whats done to your motor?
K&N intake. That's it.

How many miles?
46k

Do you use any additives such as lucas, Slick50 ect.?
No. As well as I've treated this engine, I'll never need this stuff.

With you buying the car used and it having that many miles, I'd suggest running an Auto-Rx cycle through it.

OIL: Mobil 1 5w-30
FILTER: Motorcraft
MILES: 92,000
MODS: See Sig
ADDATIVES: Just used a can of...can't remember the name...it's a silver/metal can that comes in amounts for 4-6-8 cylinders and it's supposed to help seal up any leaks in the cylinder walls and whatnot. Only reason I tried it is because I have an oil leak somewhere and I'm trying to see if anything helps. I'll also be cleaning and RTV'ing around the oil pan when I install my Prochamber.
SEAFOAM: Did it once, I think it worked too well because ever since I did that (crank, gas, and intake) the leak got worse.

What oil?: Quaker State Peak Performance 5w-20
What brand filter?: Only Motorcraft
Whats done to your motor?: Vortech supercharged, FMIC, Dragon plenum + throttle body, full exhaust.
How many miles?: 50k
Do you use any additives?: No
Do you Seafoam?: Never tried

First oil change done in this car, gonna listen out for it and check out the oil consumption, may have to run thicker viscosity.

I use Mobil One 5w30 with a Mobil One filter. I have thrown a small can of Restore in before for the hell of it. Sometimes I put a little Marvel Mystery Oil in gas. If all else fails on oil, I'll buy the WalMart Super Tech full synthetic stuff. I had a car with 100,000+ miles, and it ran great and didn't leak using regular old WalMart brand. The minute I put Castrol GTX High Mileage in, the valve covers started leaking, and the sludge set loose and made it run like a tank.

alright i'm suprised that only one of the guys used royal purple. i thought it would of been a little more common on the mustang forums. alot of you are right the oil we use no adays already has all the detergents in it as per the label on the back of all oil bottles. Anyway I work at Advanced Auto Parts as a Asst. manager and corporate recently did a oil filter test. I was very suprised with the results. this is what my DM handed down to us the other day, the filters are from first (best) to last (worst) were:

Tested as normal driving conditions and a simulated 3000 miles exact with the same conventional motor oil.

Mobile 1 - this filter came out on top the cleanest with the most pressure
MotorCraft - Just a little more dirty than mobile 1 not noticable in plain view
Purolator Pure One - Great mid grade filter for the price
AcDelco - great mid grade filter for the price
K&N - clean outcome but pressure dropped before 2500k
Purolator (regular) - Normal particles and normal wear
Fram (TG numbers) - Oil was very dirty
Fram (PH Numbers) - oil was very dirty
Advanced Auto Parts "Total Grip" - ... dont EVER. this filter came out completely dirty and loss of pressure after 2000k
