the red is almost a candy apple red. The pics don;t really show the color well at all. The white is the base white, according to the PO, and I believe a Ditzler color. The white is lacquer.

Hey gtss, pls post some pics of your 66. My hatchback has 275/40/17's on the front and 285 Goodyears on the back, but I'm thinking this fastback can take a 315 on the back, at least.

D hearne...where do I get Nascar wheels? And I still still would like to find some road racing white lettered Goodyears. All the old pics I find of these cars do not have the flared fenders . I thought 2BAV8's car had flared fenders in some of the pics I saw, but it doesn't.

I just bought a turbo Lexus that had a "soft" hit on the left front and I have to get all the SRT turbo crap off the car while its being repaired and get it back to stock BEFORE I start on this 66. Wifes car somes first...why is that?

First thing for the 66 is wheels/tires so keep those suggestions coming in. I'm keeping the front flares now for sure. I guess they've grown on me...

I do have a serious question....where can I buy the Goodyear road racing tires. I realize they're not DOT approved. I looked on direct tire and tire rack but I guess all they sell is street tires. AND, who has the best roll bar kit? The one I installed in my hatchback (from Jegs I think) did not have exactly the same bend on the left and right side. Outlaw

As far as a roll bar, you really need to look at the rules for whatever sanctioning body you'd likely be running. You might get copies of all the sanctioning bodies and try to build the bar/cage that would comply with all or most of them. Design it to where if you have to add bars to meet another bodies rules, it's easy to do. You also might eventually sell it, so the better it meets such rules, the better chance you have of it selling.

My chassis guy keeps a notebook of all roll bars that he bends up, I think most do. I like his work as he keeps the bars tight to the roof and pillars, they kinda tend to disappear. I'm sure you could get a chassis guy to bend you up a kit and ship it to you.

I recommend going to the cruise on Friday and car show on Saturday. Probably one of the best shows in northern California.

Have you guys been watching Musclecar on Spike TV? They have been building a Mustang Outlaw Road Racer and it is pretty awesome car. That's what I would do with the car. It will make it unique and it would be a lot of fun to roadrace that sucker. When someone drives into a car show or a cruise night with one of these, people pay attention. The fact that the front fenders are all fiberglass is key. No cheese and if they are in good shape like they appear to be your golden. If you take them off the front,your going to have to take them off the back cause it just won't look right.

I just found and purchased this 66. Been in storage since 85. Has SCCA suspension and all Ford parts. Has a CHROME 9 in., chrome trunk hinges, chrome bumper brackets (you'll have to ask the previous owner), lots o spare stuff, both original and race aftermarket, like race seats and fuel cell. Owner had intentions of making it a showcar/race car (see tag).Don't know about the fiberglass front flared fenders. Don;t see those installed anymore. Seems it would take a huge tire to make them look right. Huge flares in back as well. Originally a 4 bbl automatic car, so its not a rare breed. What do you guys think I should do with respect to bringing it back to life? I want to keep all the suspention pieces, its all TCP good stuff, front and rear. Gimme some feedback please,

I know Summit racing list some Nascar style wheels, I don't road or nascar race so i couldn't tell you where else-- HistoricMustang ought to be able to fill you in on that stuff. The 77 Comet I bought last month to drag race will have the "black wheels/raised white letter tire" treatment once it's done.

Nice find buddy! Looks quite alot like my car, except for the flares that is. Can you tell me if the rear bootlid is fibreglassed or all metal? also the end-caps for the rear quarters?

the trunk lid is fiberglass as well as the quarterends. The components were purchased back in the 80's, I "think" from Maier, the PO does not remember exactly. I have no idea how long Maier has been in business. Regardless, the lid and quarter extensions are nice pieces and fit well. I'm sure a lot of that is the bodymans work, but they do fit nice. I'm off to california today and won;t return till friday. any places I need to see in Huntington Beach. The F! race is also going on this week but don;t know if I'll have time for that.
