It came in the mail the other day after waiting 9 business days from AmericanMuscle.com. Downloaded the tune, which was 91 Octane, 4:10's, Offroad X Pipe, Chambered Mufflers. After downloading the tune I noticed my speedo was still way off. Being new to the whole tuning concept I went into the parameters of the custom tune from them. I noticed everything was set to stock along with the gear ratio. Spark was set to zero on all RPM ranges and WOT wasn’t touched either. Now I'm not sure if these numbers were supposed to look like this, but I knew for sure the gear ratio was supposed to be set to 4:10. I went ahead and set it to 4:10, re-downloaded the tune and the speedo was correct. I noticed absolutely NO difference in performance. I also noticed I could not turn off the TC or change to different LB injectors in the future. I then did some research and found out that the SCT Excalibrator SF is the one that allows the TC and injectors to be adjusted by the end user. I then called AmericanMuscle to ask them what was up with them advertising this adjustability with this tuner and they said it depends on the model car, which I immediately disagreed with.Super long story short, I had them give me a complimentary tune with the TC turned off and with 93 ocatne instead of 91. So for future reference, If you’re going to buy a SCT Excalibrator, make sure it is the SF version. It is exactly the same price, 379.00, but more features. Hopefully when I get the new tune I will notice a difference.

I dont know what you bought, but I can change injector size, t/c on/off (which I dont have because its a 96) and all of the parameters on the xcalibrator II, it just depends if the tuner yougot it from chose to let you have access to those options or not. The SF is just preloaded with tunes from SCT from the year you pick's car.

Actually they are two different tuners. Different as in the SF has more end user options (02 Sensor ON/OFF and TC ON/OFF). I spoke directly to SCT in regards to this. I purchased the SCT Excalibrator 2 with 2 custom tunes. It doesnt matter if you buy the SF or not, you can still get the tunes pre-programmed and shipped to your door. This is what I'm so upset about. They advertise on their site that I can adjust these to Parameters with my tuner but I can't. Everytime I want to turn my TC on or off I need to get a new tune. Whereas with the 9415 SF, you can do this on your own.

Why would you buy a tuner such as that from a retailer and not an actual store that does tuning, such as Modular Powerhouse?

At least if you buy it from someone like Tim, it'll come loaded with an actual tune and not a plain generic one.

Yeah, I thought about that before purchasing from AmericanMuscle. The tuner from Tim is 400.00 with 1 tune and from AmericanMuscle it's 395.00 with 2 tunes. If I could do it over I would definitely go with Tim. Lesson learned I guess.

I could have easily bought my tune from MustangTuning (American Muscle) when I was shopping for a tune, but I decided to pay the extra money for the MPH tune. No regrets here. Tim is the man when it comes to modular motor tuning. That piece of mind is worth more to my motor than saving a few bucks.

Well, you can always order a tune from him then d/l it to the xcal.

I would think that's the best option for you atm.

I'm a big fan of having someone personally load a tune whether it be a street tune or dyno. Then you can have your minor adjustability after.

Those mail order or canned tunes leave a lot to be desired.

I agree. I have a 93 tune given to me for free from American Muscle which should (BETTER!) be in my inbox on Monday. After that I am going to get a tune from Tim. Thanks for the advice!

you know you can upgrade to the SF tuner from SCT's website right?

No way?! I didnt know that. How do I go about doing it? Or should I research it myself? Thanks!

I agree, but I wanted to own my tuner. So why not get a few tunes along with it.

+1 to this and San Man

I would check with Tim on the tuning and what he can do for you. You may be charged for it.
