I recently swapped my 3-Speed tranny for a Tremec 5-Speed (86, Mustang) and I noticed a vibration in the drivetrain but only when I start from a dead stop, I get a vibration at the shifter/tranny. Once I get going, I can really get on it without any vibrations, it only happens from a dead stop. I am leading to the problem being the tranny mount that was put on. The tranny mount is wider than should be cross brace and therefore, the shop put SPACERS (metal) to compensate for the extra width. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The tranny was used and bought from a reputable shop? This problem only started when I did the swap. The flywheel had been machined prior to swap along with a new clutch and throwout bearing. Please feel free to ask me questions should you need specific info.

Thanks again in advance for the help.

You might just not be used to clutch chatter at take-off. Is it better if you slip the clutch a little longer at take-off? What kind of vibration - high frequency or is the shifter suddenly moving left/right?

The trans mount shouldn't cause a problem as long as it's bolted solid. I had to zip tie mine for a few days until I got the right mount with no problems, although I wouldn't recommend that to anyone.

A loose motor mount and/or clutch linkage would also cause chatter at take-off especially if you still have the monkey-action linkage.
