If you REALLY want it that bad, and you inspected and see nothing wrong with the car possibly walk up to him with 12.5k and slap it on the table, if not say 13k bottom line... IF its something you want that bad. I know if I saw my ideal car I wouldnt let a couple grand throw me off.

+1., Even 13.5K is still a pretty good deal on it if its in the shape you say it is. Offer him 12.5K, no more than 13K if you really want it. See what he says. Chances are he will let it go for 13K. especially if you have 10K in cash.

if he seems legit, id buy it...thats a clean car and a fair price...Id offer $13,500 so he bites and i get a good deal

hmmmm....

13.5 is WAY too much from what everyone is telling me for a salvage title car, but to tell you guys the truth i'd probably buy it regardless of what anyone says

here's the problem though. if i were to take out a loan for $14k the interest rate would be incredibly high since i have almost no credit (yeah i've heard the speech several times before) but for this car i was willing to take the hit

anyway, the next day my dad calls me and of course he starts harping on and on about my unfinished taxes, my lack of credit, my poor choice of career and some other boring money related crap (my dad LOVES this stuff). after awhile i bring up the cobra and i tell him about my planned loan. i tell him i'm going to join a credit union blah blah my dad says go for it and we hang up. i start looking for credit unions

the next day my dad calls and tells me he got the loan and wanted my account number to transfer the cash and i'm sitting there like wtf? seriously WTF? i haven't even seen the car yet! i honestly could not believe it. this is WAY, WAY out of character for my dad but there we were with 14k in cash in transfer. it's cool and all since i'd be paying back the loan with almost no interest but still

fast forward to the previous events and here we sit. i tell my dad about the title and of course he says no way, salvage title, not worth it, don't buy it. now if i got the loan out in MY name i'd be sitting here typing and posting pics of my new mineral grey 'o1 cobra, taking flak from everyone for paying too much for a flood damaged car, paying back the loan back with a high interest rate and i honestly wouldn't care (did i mention the car is immaculate) but since my dad did me this favor i really can't run out, buy the car and say "whatever dad it's my money, i do what i want!"

that's the problem. i still want the car but now i have to convince my dad that it's worth it (it's not) and i'm not making another dumbass move (it is)

i tried to take my mind off the cobra by looking at RX-8's again, damn are they expensive

i used to deal with salvaged cars...if the car is clean its clean...my brother recently got a 03 jetta 1.8t tiptronic...paid 11k for it with 20k miles. salvage place had a complete book of pictures before and after repair...was a great repair job.

Here is the thing about water...if its flooded while the car is off..all you have to worry about is rust or interior mainly...you checked those out to be super clean...so its a clean car, imo

good luck

fresh water i assume, it was flooded in ohio

i didn't see any before pics and when i asked he told me nothing was replaced, the brakes and tires he had his dads shop replace, unrelated to insurance

why would an insurance company total a car if nothing needed to be replaced?

dude, something does not add up. Water up to the rims totals a car? Hardly. Its pouring rain here in NJ, has been for the past 24 hours or so. There are cars driving through these puddles that are about 1/2 way up their rims. That should not total a car.

My father had a car Totaled in a flood. Water up to the hood and it was salt water. The mechanics explained that it could be fixed, but would never be the same. The car was just totalled out. More trouble then its worth.

So what happens if you get the car and all is good. 6 months down the line, electrical gremlins start popping up. Its not like you can just dump the car off with a salvage title on some schmuck. Nobody would ever believe that story, i know i sure as hell wouldnt. But for some reason you seem to believe him, cuz you WANT that car. I know the feeling, trust me.

Dont be that schmuck that gets suckered into a nightmare. Let some other fool do that.

Sorry it didnt work out. Start hunting for something else.

already have

Competion Orange Euro Spec SVT Focus

leather recaros, hid's and a decent sound system but damn are these little bastards hard to find:notnice:

some of you guys are wied. 13.5 is wayy too much for a flood title. Do you actullay think they just said total it because water got on the rims? You guys think what you want but that car is garbage. It was totalled for a reason and the owner of the car isnt telling the truth. good day

wouldn't be a replacement for the stang, just a slick little daily driver. they get decent gas mileage and are pretty fun to drive from what i hear

two things with that color though

a) the euro spec only comes in two colors, that or yellow

2) it's more of a color you need to see in person, even then it's love it or hate it

and

d) it's an SVT vehicle and i've always wanted an SVT

Euro spec? Dude it's just the EAP, european appearance package. I had an 04 SVTf 5dr, pitch black...with EAP...fully loaded...loved that car! Really was a lemon though, so I sold it with only 7200 miles on it for the mustang which had less than half that when I got it hah.

SVT Focus is not a mustang replacement, good you realize that already (PHEW!) It's a fun daily driver car, and pretty quick for auto-x...but it's not RWD, or AWD, so there is no oversteer and it makes the car not as fun to push hard, because it just turns in and goes the right direction hah. Powerworks makes a blower kit for them (I had a Jackson Racing kit on my car), FocusSport makes a turbo kit, so does Focus Power... Oh btw, my buddy had one JUST like the one pictured, 100% identical.
