my roommate was telling me about how he was driving a friends corvette this weekend he told me that he couldnt honda shift the car. Apparently honda shift means shifting fast or ripping through gears. he said when he pulled it into 2nd gear the car would stay in first and still be reving high you would have to shift slow and let the clutch out slow for it to go into gear.

the funniest part i thought was how he called it honda shifting lol. He claims he loves mustangs but after this he is a true ricer.

Does the Corvette have CAGS, or what ever GM calls it? Its bascially a 1-2 shift lockout. They added it for fuel economy on some cars. I remember the last gen camaro's had it, and the think the GTO has it too.

If you aren't driving the car hard, it locks out out of 2nd gear, forcing you to make a 1-3 shift.

the newer vettes have it but this was a c5 he drove. the c6 under normal throttle it locks out 2nd and goes to 3rd but when u go WOT it unlocks

Hmmm...I've shifted my dads C5 pretty quickly and it never stayed in 1st when I went to second. But I wouldn't say I've "Honda shifted" because 1) I've never owned a Honda and 2) I've never driven a Honda.

That word just sounds funny...Honda Honda Honda...

My boss said his C6 doesn't have what you are talking about. He said his only problem is 2nd to 3rd because of the close shift ratio. He also said that in "active handling" mode it works like our T/C except that it applies the brakes and doesn't cut the engine power. He babys the car. He said he doesn't know about the C5 because his C5 was an automatic.
