96-98 cobra vs 98+ fbody

lol tmoneyballin you kill me

My dad worked for gm high perf division for years, had a small block 65 chevelle running 10.21 at e town in 1971 and has built hundreds of documented high perf motors. Now I on the other hand have been custom painting cars for years, worked for a porsche dealership for years, and work on only high end cars, mostly porsche, but some ferrari and high end restos, i always get a kick out of these rich guys like you, its always fun to run them down on the highway. i still wont forget the look on my bosses face when i started pulling away from his modded twin turbo 997 porsche

I make good money, by no means a millionare, and my home built ws6 would make you run home crying and wrighting checks, to me i love my car because me and my average joe dad built everything here, and i bet my car has better fit, finish, performance, and meaning to me then a car you threw money at, nobody on here cars how much money you make, it doesnt impress us, show us custom parts like my car has, a motor you built, or a junkyard part you made work to better your mustang.

I love my mustangs, and i love my fbodies, they both have their pluses and minuses, but the ls1s are god like, and the amount of parts you can swap, and how cheap strokers are is amazing, hell look at the new lsx block you can build a 454 out of, a guy over on ls1tech just broke an NA 625rwhp i his daily driven 98 trans am

Personally, i would take which car you think looks better, you can always make a car faster, looks are tough to change, im lucky enough to have one of each

Talk about bringing it back from the grave?

IMO the LS1 Camaro's are respectable. I think that all car guys should be able to admit that, even a fast import has it's place in the car guys world... It just may not be your taste. Point being I give respect to all the fast rides out there.

I will let this speak for itself.

you know, the fbody might have more potenial, but dude, the cobra really looks a lot better than the fbody, i dunno, and i look at these cars from an engineers viewpoint, the cobra is a 4.6 liter, and the fbody is a 5.7 liter, and the cobra puts out just as much and sometimes more than the fbody.

I totally agree on the looks standpoint (just to let you guys know, I ended up purchasing a mint '94 5.0, so Im way behind a 96-98 cobra AND ls1 in performance.. at least until ported gt40s, intake and a custom grind cam come into play)

One thing I have to say about the "engineering" though, its pretty irrelevant to compare displacement, I mean, the 346ci ls1 gets better gas mileage, its dimensionally smaller, it uses only 2 valves per cyl, 1 cam, its lighter, puts out more power, actually has torque, etc. I love the 4V 4.6, not trying to knock it, but when people say that the engineering is much better on the mod motor just because it is 1100cc smaller and puts out almost the same peak horsepower. We have to look at these engines as a package ;)

But what it all comes down to (IMHO anyways) the 96-98 cobras look a hell of a lot better, handle better, have better fit and finish, have a good stigma attached to them, have a nicer interior, and sound a hell of a lot better (4.6 4 valve exhaust = sex). I started this thread to compare the cars, and the engine is just a fraction of the car. Thanks for all your guy's comments:nice:

Sorry, the 98-02 LS1 will always make more power mod for mod in a NA form(bolt ons, heads and cam/s) than a 96-98 4V. Once you go Turbo, then all bets are off because the 4V can attain 1k rwhp just like a LS1 does.

Also the suspension is better on the F-Body than a Mustang. LCA/PHB/TA FTW over UCA/LCA. My Cobra looks better and has less rattles than my LS1. However, with all my mods on both cars(the cobra having more0 it isn't that much faster and makes close to the same hp.
