Thinking about getting a civic

Civic aughta do what you want it for just fine. I have a Corolla, 40 mpg, 5 speed, 244K on the clock, 56 miles each way to work, miles I don't wanna put on a car I give a flying f... about. What do people think of a 40 year old driving a piece like this? As though I gave a rats ass, right? Its there so you can spend your money elsewhere. Exhaust, brakes and tires all this 100+ mile a day car cost me. The Civic'll do the same thing. Congrats, you got a ricer!:flag:

The 5 speeds actually are much better on gas.
If you want a gutless car that cant make it up hills go with an auto. If you want a car that can get out of its own way get a 5 speed.

BTW, Ive worked on enough Cavaliers and Sunfires to know theyre horrible pieces of crap, just like most other GM cars.

meh, i know a 5spd would do better but i'd be happy with high 20s low 30s lol, i probably get the mileage of a 5.0 in my 2.5t. i know my friend's cavy has 193k miles on it and the most he's done to it is replace the head gasket(and put a fart pipe/altezzas on it.:bang: ).

+1 I think if you're going to get one of those little coke cans it has to be a 5 speed. I'm much too tall for one either way.

I would definitely prefer the 5spd for the extra 3~mpg and the ability to drive up the mountain....im 6 2 and im not too tall for it are you goliath or something?

I never considered a Corolla and didnt know they got that good gas mileage....i guess it wouldnt hurt to keep my eyes open for one of those

I have a 97 EX, and with 75% highway, 25% in town I get about 34mpg. I can get the mpg a little higher, but doing 75-80mph on the highway with the automatic gets the RPMs a little higher than perfect for mpg.

i never said it didn't leak oil or coolant, mine is real tired. anyway, a 4 banger can be a lot of fun if its a stick. you feel yourself rowing through the gears playing racecar and having fun. look down your only going 5 over.

I'd rather pay more at the pump and drive a decent car than drive some POS econobox. Driving a Civic or even riding in one is just downright embarassing and IMO you can't put a price on dignity.

It's kind of ironic that many people would even consider driving the antithesis of the Mustang.

Good luck with your POS :)

wow have you ever thought of what it would be like to get more than double the gas mileage and keep miles off your car?? :notnice:

sure it might be a piece, but ill get killer mpg's, a chance to actually work on the stang without having to get it on back on the road (because its my only car), and i wont have to worry about stupid drivers & deer

Grow the **** up.

My friend has a 94 Civic and runs the **** out of it. Has 240k miles and still runs like a champ lol. I'll probably get one in the future.

Think about it

A 97 with that amount of miles is going to start alot of problems. Once you start driving it everything is going to mess up on you. Heres the think about it part, Once you add up the price of car, insurance, small repairs, gas, and title change plus you will be keeping up your mustang I assume. All of that is going to cost more than the gas your using while driving your mustang. But I don't meen to discourage you. Good Luck

4 wheels, 3 of them un-bent, and enough faux woodgrain and blue cloth to last a man 2 lifetimes. you think driving a beater is bad, try driving........a LUMINA!:jaw:

problems?? i highly doubt a 97 honda is going to fall apart when i start driving it....i know MANY people who have hondas that are well over 200k with only a water pump change and timing belt

let me review the situation again....i have to pay for the car payments through the summer when my mom is going to take over (late high school graduation present) insurance will be her in name as well

so basically my only expense is gas & small repairs...them two combined will be much cheaper than driving the Mustang 300 miles/week over the summer and a 175 mile roundtrip (every other wknd) to and from school once summer is over
