Only had it a week, but here's my 2 cents....

Driving it back home after collecting it (300 miles) I had the cruise set to 60mph, and once at that speed I reset the average mpg and after 100 miles it was reading... you ready for this? I kid you not.... 30.8mpg!!! Seriously... I wish I'd taken the risk of getting my phone out to take a photo, as no one believes me now.

However.... since getting back home, I've been doing a lot of town driving - mainly very gentle, but with the occassional blast away from the lights, or dropping to 2nd and booting it. Under these conditions, I'm getting 16mpg.

Looks like mpg is seriously variable depending on how you drive it, and where, and at what speed.

Still... no complaints from me. You want great fuel economy, buy a Honda Civic :rlaugh:

It's done 2000 miles so far.

[EDIT]

Just realised there would have been no risk in getting the camera out, as all I had to do was pull over... Doh! How dumb do I feel now? Was in such a rush to get it home, stopping was not part of the equation :)

Hi Pook,

30MPG in a V6 is respectable, but a GT?! Definitely the Master of control behind the wheel.

I've seen the V6 guys bitchin' about getting under 20.

I averaged 31.4 yesterday, today I had my foot in it so I only got 29.6. LOL

Free flowing exhaust is one huge difference (noticed +2 MPG immediately).

And it sounds great.

My buddy up in Yorkshire should be getting his pony today, do you have a decent aftermarket vendor in the UK I can link him too?

I'd love to take credit for that, but the fact is, I had cruise control on and set to 60mph. :rlaugh: It was flat, level ground too with occassional downhill stretches. It IS an extreme case, but I averaged this over a couple of hundred miles.

Like I said tho.. now in town traffic and it's hovering around the 14 - 15 mpg area.

Just completed a 3,000 mile trip from South Louisiana to Colorado and back, towing my custom built aluminum utility trailer. Trailer's loaded weight was 800 lbs. Stang's gross weight was 4100 lbs, for a combined GVW of 4900 (Me, the wife and luggage, etc in the car, camping equipment in trailer) Speeds ranged on the highway from 65-80 with occasional bursts to 90-100 (passing other vehicles:D ) Car now has 17,000 miles on it (06 GT, manual trans) Fuel mileage was 21-25 mpg, average was 23 mpg. Same trip last year without trailer was 24 mpg. Who says you can't tow with a Stang ?

After 3,000 miles ...

... on top of the 14,000 it had when I got it,
24-25 mpg keeping up with 80 mph freeway traffic
16-18 mpg doodling around town with light throttle foot
13-15 mpg (on a tank) when autocrossing or drag racing is included
. . . . Actual mpg with WOT is probably 4-8 mpg, by the Fuel needle

I have a 180 mile round trip commute to work, I set the cruise at 75 or so. I get on the freeway like I mean it and will use the gas over the brakes to avoid traffic.
According to the car my average is 24.2. I am tuned for 91 with the below mods.

Just took a 270 mile trip north on I35 from SA to Dallas last weekend, I averaged for the whole trip just over 28 mpg. Calculated on my dash, and by the calculator on my phone when I filled up in dallas. I cruised at 75 mph in 5th. For the first 45 miles or so my in dash was telling me I was at 31 mpg until I hit Austin traffic. Pretty damn good in my opinion! :nice:

i'm in texas right now and on the way out from florida I got 31.0 mpg being the best so far (computer said 31.9, so it is not totally accurate) and backed up with 30.0 mpg (computer was 30.9)...my other tanks have been high 20's at fill up but have driving through towns on them tanks. I've owned the car for 3 weeks and have 3800 miles on it :( but it's a nice ride.

Went for a drive to check out a 94 MR2 turbo to add to my collection. About 220 mi R/T. At 65 mph is 24 mpg, at 79 it's 21.5 mpg. Last July I went to the track day for the annual North West Mustang Round Up weekend. On my last session I reset the milage and trip odometer. Results 20.2 mi at 8.3 mpg. That was 9 laps on the 2.25 mi track. Well worth the mpg sacrifice.
