Rear Adjustable Sway Bar

  • Sponsors (?)

The reason that I want a bar that mounts to the rear axle is that I have read that the other ones could rip out from the frame rails in some circumstances. I know Scott Drake makes one that is adjustable and mounts like I want. I ordered it from a mustang supplier, but my order was rejected due to problems with the supplier. I have been looking at different suppliers, but I can't find that particular one listed anywhere. I was wondering if anyone else made one and where to get it.

Lots of parts Branda offers are not on their site. It's actually a pretty sorry web site, but at least you can order a catalog through it. Also, as far as the added unsprung weight, I think we need to remember it's a street car. I see lots of guys adding a heck of a lot more than the 7 or 8 lbs a rear bar adds by going to 17" wheels and they seem to be OK.

The frequency and prevalence of fraud has us all watching the way the orders are coming through. The standards are there to protect someone from using your card.

I think you misunderstood. The order went through fine, but I didn't receive the sway bar at all. The vendor refunded my money and said that they were unable to obtain that bar from the supplier. I have noticed on many vendor sites since than that the bar I ordered has been removed from their site. That is why I asked where I could get one.

Gotcha...

I haven't seen that style either...

Those aren't the axle version he's talking about. They are the pretty much the standard config and they also u bracket to the leafs which is not the recommended way to go IMO. The leaf brackets can break as well just by jacking the car up.

These weld in brackets and weld in tabs for the axle/end links.

Maier Racing Sway Bar

I have the Maier Rear Sway Bar installed on my '66 Coupe, and I installed it about 15 years ago. It is similar to the one picutred, but is a one piece "U" shape bar with adjustable end links. The rear sway bar really tightens up the rear with no sway...
