Bad water leak, need help!

I have '93 GT and have been having some experiences with water leaking into the car. I had noticed water stains on the seats after it would rain. I assumed it was the sunroof. I ordered new weatherstripping and it should arrive today. I changed the carpet last weekend and when I took the old carpet out I saw that underneath the backing was soaked. It had not rained for weeks but a bunch of water had obviously soaked through the carpet.

When I was driving to work today in heavy rain I observed water coming in pretty heavy dripping down under the passenger side dash, falling from the glove box. Does anyone know where this could be coming from? I'm guessing the windshield but how in the hell am I going to find it without tearing the dash out? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Leaking door weather stripping is the primary culprit. Open the door, take a dollar bill and lay it lengthwise on the weather stripping. Then close the door and pull on the dollar bill. If it pulls out with little resistance, the weather stripping is shot ,or the door is out of adjustment. Try this at several places along the top of the door.

Replace the weather stripping only with OEM Ford product.

I'll give it a try. The car only has 59k on it and the weatherstrip appears in good shape. If it is leaking in from the door I dont know how it is making its way under the glove box. I'm going to give your idea a try and see what happens. Thanks.

A) My notch has 64k original and leaks in the back glass and the driver's side door... badly.

B) Listen to jrichker- that's how it's done. They'll charge you an arm & a leg at the shop to do that.

Think I found the problem

Took a hose to it and started low by the drivers windshield and there was no leak. As soon as the hose drifted towards the passenger side of the windshield the water started com'n in.

Took the cowl and trim pieces off the bottom of the outside windshield and man was my weatherstipping dry rotten and a real mess. I scrapped all the junk out and re-sealed it with silicon. Quite the dirty job but I hope that fixes the problem. I'll take the hose to it later and find out.

My sunroof weatherstip came it today as well.

Alot of cars leak water throught the firewall. A common problem is water intrusion from there seal between the heatercore and firewall when the seals get old. Also a good way to check a windshield is to use VERY sudsy water and blot it around the outside of the window. Then from the inside apply air and see if anything bubbles from the outside. Good luck man, water leaks suck.

could all so be get in where the blower motor for the heater and a/c in the cowl.my car did that for about a week and just stoped

Well the water leak is no more. It looks like digging out all the rotted out weatherstrip and replacing it with clear silicone was the ticket. I replaced the seals/weatherstrip around the sunroof as well as well as put some silicone around those 2 yellow stoppers in front of the sunroof.

I did find that I have a cut in my drivers door weatherstrip that is causing a small leak but I'll order some new ones this week. I look forward to a dry car with no more mold smell. Thanks for the help.
