I work in an industrial part of town. Today, I was driving home top down and two fellas in a truck complemented the car. I said thanks. Thursday, I was out in one of the neighborhoods and a couple older biker types were crossing the street in front of me. The lady friend gave a thumbs up and then they asked if they could take a picture. I got out of the car (took the keys) and let them take the pic. They were thrilled. Just a rant. I'm sure you guys and gals get the same thumbs ups.

Cheers.

I'm surprised how many reactions I get to my 'Stang. I purposely got the Alloy Grey so it wouldn't attract too much attention (mostly from the troopers) but tons of people still give me the thumbs up and check out my car. The other day I was following some civic down the road and we get up to the intersection they get into the left turning lane next to me and one of the kids rolls down the window and tells me what a nice car I have. It's nice to get those kinds of reactions.

Mines a friggen magnet for attention, it's cool for a little bit, but becomes annoying sometimes. There's certain types of people that just rub me wrong and I try to escape, but they keep gabbin and tellin me about their fast 4 cylinder car -blah blah blah.

Just last week I was backing into my driveway and a culligan water truck comes flying around the corner, wasn't even stopped yet, dude throws the truck in park (trans making the death grown) and jumps out the cargo door yellin, "hey hey hey, can I get a picture of your car?"

I had to ask him with complete sarcasm, your wreckin transmisions to get a picture of a parked car?

Same day, I'm in an industrial park trying to get some photos of the car with some really nice glass buildings in the background. Musta been a break for the entire facility, cause eveyone came outside and mulled over the car for 20 minutes and then returned back inside. So many questions I got cotton mouth answering them all.

Then there's the classic stuff. That Lancer EVO enthusiast (with very little respect to Domestics) who comes up from behind and wants to give you a test run. I kindly endulge him with a down shift and let him experience what it's like to have Elenor pull away from him like a freight train. Stopped at the next light, he's half out of his car handing out props and trying to get power specs from me.

I get these types of experiences nearly every time I bring out the car for the most part. Sometimes it's cool, then there's other times I just want to drive, listen to the blower and cruise wherever my right foot takes me. When I get held up with lots of gauking, sometimes I get a little annoyed. My own fault for going as far with the car as I have. Just have to adjust and become thicker skinned I guess..

i dont care about anyones reaction, except for the kids. its great to see kids rubber neck in their moms SUV. or when they walk by and yell as i wash the car in the driveway "NICE CAR!" its also nice when they are on the schol bus and grab the attention of half the bus and all are glued to the window to see YOUR car. :D

the kids know what cool cars are, they usually dont know the difference between a civic or a mustang, but they know cool when they see it. if you can put a smile on a kids face and make his day, thats the best reaction! :nice:

AMEN!!!

Yeah I get compliments on my mustang quite a bit too (and its not even as bad ass as some of yours) but the Black and Red leather does grab some attention when she's setting still. The strangest compliment I've had was from a gas station attendant who announced that "they love my car" over the intercom at the pump...

but by far the best ones are the ones from kids... as bigcat mentions

the kids near my house that shout "cool car man" from their bikes...those are the best cause theirs no "ifs ands or buts" those kids think your car is AWESOME and they love to see that stuff, they tell their friends about this cool car they saw...and hell isn't that what its all about anyway? Thats why for years as a kid I went to autoshows (thats why I still go) to see awesome cars...and to talk and dream about owning and driving them.

My favorite reaction is from the dyed in the wool Chevy guys (usually in a Camero) who hand out the " You know, I hate Fords, but that's one bad Mustang!" or something similar. Praise from the nuetral is great, but praise from your arch enemy is even cooler.

Just drove through the Ford dealer lot today as I was going to price a few parts. As I passed the show room, there were 3 guys out front on a smoke break. I was barely idling by and one of them hollered at me and all 3 gave :nice: .THEN I kinda blipped the gas as I drove by...I heard some more reactions:D Then as I went through the Arby's drive thru on the way home the middle aged woman working the window commented on how nice my car looked:D
The thing I love the most is the stares I get as I drive by on the highway at about 75 with my loud muscle car exhaust!!!!! Thank goodness I have my Flows back!!!!!

Amen to the kids. Mostly, because I remember being a kid and doing the same thing to older people with nice cars. But the fools that always want to race get annoying after a while. But take the good with the bad I guess, and the good clearly makes up for it I think. :)

+1 for kids reaction. My little nephew loves when I pick him up from school. It make my day watching my nephew wave to his friends as we drive away in the "cool car". Of course, I love the giddiness of the teachers also.

A few more things...

Power4, Alloy (to me) is an attention getting color because its unique. Its not black, its not gray, it has metal flakes I can see from a distance, and its something not too common. I saw one and it sure caught my attention. I wanted to catch up with him and give him a :nice: but he got away from me. Ditto for a white coupe with blue striping and 20" chrome rim and lowering kit. Noticed it plus its details in just a couple of seconds as he zipped by. Nice.

There's a cameraderie between Mustang owners. This website is proof.

As for kids, I'm guilty of teaching my nephew. "Now Spencer, look at the tailpipes. If it has one, its a six (I'll explain that to him when he's older). If it has two, its an eight and it's the nice one. Also, four headlights (gotta simplify) means its the nice model." He'll spread the word. I'm also turning him into a snob. Guilty.

As a kid, I knew the difference between an Impala and an Impala SS (nix to the Biscaynes). Coronet 500 vs Coronet RT (uncle Frank taught me that). A Galaxy 500 vs the Galaxy 500 XL (I liked the interior door handles). Rubber necked like crazy.

Interesting, the car has been out 3 years going on 4 and it still has that new appeal. I really didn't buy the car to be an attention getter but it sure got more feedback than my 01 Cobra.

And c'mon, some people do factor in attention when they look for a car. Remember Borat was looking at a Hummer and wondered whether he could get a certain kind of magnet with it. Nothing wrong with that!! :rlaugh:

Best to all,
Kevin

That reminds me of the time I pulled into the Mazda dealer with my Cobra to pick up a part for my old Tribute. One of the Mazda salesman sitting out front yelled out, "Now that's a REAL car!" when I drove by. Made me chuckle all the way home.:D

Oh, you just had to bring up the Arby's drive through! I went through an Arby's drive through with a lady friend of mine once when the teenage girl working the drive thru complimented my car. My "friend" leaned over and shouted loud enough for the entire town to hear, "yeah, he's compensating for a small c*ck!" The girl wouldn't even bring back our order, the manager did. I'm sure I was as red as my car. She cackled like a mad hen all the way back to work.

WOMEN!!!!!!!!!! :rlaugh: Umm...did she not know she was riding in a Mustang and NOT a Corvette?????

I've owned and still own both V6 and V8 Mustangs. They are ALL NICE. Let's all get along as Mustang owners. Let's also remember that today's V6 has as much power as many of the GTs of the past.

 I'm not sure how a story about my phallic symbol laden car and a related embarrassing story could be interpreted as a slam on other Mustang owners but I assure you no slams were intended. It may be short and stubby, but it does fire on all EIGHT cylinders.
