**Just A Heads Up About Stangmods**

did you ever stop to think that maybe stangmods was just calling them stealth bulbs because thats how to describe them. i have 4 friends who call those silverstar-ish silver tinted turn signal bulbs all "stealth bulbs" on a regular basis for years...

based on the fact that stangmods was in fact is really calling them authentic brand named Stealth Bulbs, test the brightness and functionality of the bulbs stangmods sent you, then test of the same on the actual Stealth Bulbs....and if there really isnt any noticable difference, then why care if you got all that you wanted

A customer calling something a wrong name and a vendor selling a fake product under a reputable name are two TOTALLY different situations. Does false advertisement ring a bell?

You're incorrect. Stangmods WAS selling real Stealth Bulbs for 5 months or so which Matt himself admitted on the phone today. I called and spoke to Matt and he told me they do carry Stealth Bulbs as well as other types of bulbs.

In regards to trying the bulbs and if I like them keep them... If I call for a cheese pizza and they deliver a mushroom pizza, no matter if I like the mushroom or not, I want WAIT I PAID FOR, not what will or will not suffice.

It does suck that they sold u something different than what u wanted, but whats even worse is the way they were packaged. I mean Im surprised they even survived through UPS shipping!!!

I agree 100% :)

I think the way they were packaged shows their quality/value and the fact that they're a ****ty replica and therefore are handled as such.

If you're a vendor and are buying a product that costs $10+, you would make sure it survives the trip to your customer or else you will be out more money. Now, on the other hand, when you're selling a low-quality fake that you get for probably $2 you can afford to suffer casualties of war in hopes of saving money on shipping and packing supplies. That's a dumb move in my opinion.

well really ur not that poorly off... u got the bulbs u wanted, and u have a set of fake ones or w.e u can sell! make some extra cash...

on the other hand... u where talking about going to court and blah blah blah... realistically speaking no one is going to sue stangmods for one set of bulbs.. if they are hit with a class action.. and stealth is as commonly used to describe bulbs as everyone here said... they would recognize it as a genericized trademark and would basically make stealth change their name and they would loose their trademark.. some examples of companies that this happened to, aspirin, scotch tape, kleenex, etc...
the fact that the stangmods site used text and pictures etc from the real stealth website doesnt necesarily do YOU any good... stangmods can be sued though by stealth for copyright infrigement...

How so? The fact that I spent my time ordering through Stangmods, giving them my money, then being ripped off is totally independant to the real Stealth Bulbs I received.

I did some research online and learned that many of the low-quality Stealth knock-offs have a tendency to heat up and cause damage to wiring and housings. I myself don't put low-quality parts in my cars and will not risk damage to my headlights, wiring, etc. just to run some no-name bulbs or save a buck.

I thank you for the reply. :)

In regards to "going to court," I never mentioned such.

Secondly, Stealth is not as commonly used as people describe. I know this because I spoke to Stealth today and they said they look out for anyone using the name Stealth and send them a cease and desist letter right away if caught. I just looked around and couldn't find any such bulbs.

Thirdly, a consumer would sue for false advertisement not copyright infringement; neither are worth my time.

Lastly, regardless of where the pictures originated, having a picture in ENGLISH which reads STEALTH BULBS and selling to people who speak ENGLISH is bad business in my book. Additionally, after numerous friends of mine purchased AUTHENTIC Stealth Bulbs from Stangmods and paid the same amount as me, I think I deserve the same product. Dont you think?

:D lol.. u didnt mention urself going to court, but u made a statement saying something along the line of a soda product in a coke can etc.. will loose in supreme court.. etc..

i am not sure how often stealth is used or not, and i never really heard it being used in regards to bulbs, however several members here, use them apparently pretty often and broadly. the whole point is that it doesnt matter if stealth goes out and sends a letter everytime they see their name misused... its the fact that like the people here on the forums say, the name stealth becomes comonly used to describe the lights, and the name becomes generic. stealth doesnt have much control in its name being genericized, its a risk it has to take when it takes such a large market share...

yes a customer would sue for false advertisement, but this wouldnt really be the case here. false advertisement would be if they tell u the lights are 500 times brighter than ur current ones.. by the looks of the page, i can see how they use the stealth name in a tricky manner, but the whole point is if that name is genericized, they are free to do so. one of ur posts however said that the text that they use, and the pics that they use are the same as the ones they have on the stealth website. u stated that this is furtherly misleading. this is the copyright infringement i am talking about... this is where stealth would sue...

i do understand what ur saying about how it is misleading.. when i order parts from stangsuspension.com or w.e... i always make sure the part i am buying, has a maximum motorsports part number. if they dont, (they always do) i wouldnt buy from that site.. u dont know wtf ur buying...
another thing i am confused about.. since both sites have the same price, why did u just not get them from stealth? with mustangsuspension..(baught alot from them), they buy at a dealer price and usually sell 20-30 dollars cheaper, (as well as 5% stangnet discount)
we all do have to be carefull out their though... and i am sure their are alot of other stang and other internet stores trying to make some easier money, and in the process doing some shady azz business...

I agree with you. :)

well that sucks about he packaging and how you didnt get the exact brand you wanted, but in reality, how much worse were those "fake" bulbs you got sent?

i just find the whole situation a little iffy considering so many people use the term "stealth bulb" i have heard the term used by kragen employees over the past few years and also a couple performance shops have refered to the chrome tinted bulbs as "stealth" bulbs also. i didnt even know there was an actual brand called that until now.

I didn't want to put the bulbs in due to the horror stories I've heard. I've heard the fake bulbs have a tendency to heat up and cause melted housings, etc.. I figured F that. :)

I agree, I have heard some people refer to them as that in person but a vendor advertising a bulb as a Stealth Bulb is a totally different story. Especially since the images and text used are EXACTLY the same as all of the GENUINE Stealth Bulb dealers. It's just really sneaky.

so you really have no idea as to whether or not they are the exact same bulb or not...

post pictures of each BULB and not just the wrapping... i can post pics of a silverstar and then a wad of bubblewrap and go ape***** too... but it wont mean anything.

After completing pre-school and learning my shapes I progressed to the point where I could distinguish between a bulb with a circular base and one with a rectangle base, thus proving a very visible and tangible difference. The Stangmods bulbs are made of cheap-feeling plastic, nothing like the metal feel of the Stealth Bulbs I received, and have a very thin coating that still reveals A LOT of amber.

See for yourself :)

I am SHOCKED that some of you are defending stangmods on this..

No matter how many people call any bulb like that a "stealth bulb" does not give a vendor the right to sell knockoffs and pass it off as that brand name.

If that is what happened here and it appears that it did then stangmods is totally in the wrong, and good job exposing that.

I'm with this guy... total BS on stangmods's part
