I have a '95 Cobra 5.0 and T-5 to put in a '66 fb. I have all the harnesses and J4J1ECU and need to know if anyone has made this swap. I need details like which sensors can be eliminated, what harness was used, and how the problem with the timing retard during shifting was handled. (SCT monochip, PMS, PIH harness?)I have seen all the sites with EFI swap info, and searched a bunch of forums but found none with what I need. I don't want to change to an A9L ECU, which is an alternative. And I know about the oil dip stick, and the a/c compressor clearance issues and have that covered. Thanks for any advice.

Are you using a 94-95 engine? Those 2 years are completely different, and the last year for Mustang 5.0s. That is why there is very little aftermarket support and why I need specific info on this particular swap.
If yes, do you have a J4J1 or T4MO ECU?
Thanks!

Thanks for the links guys. I have been to every site I can find but the 94-95s are very unpopular for EFI swaps. I know some have changed to the earlier HO A9L computer, mostly to fix the timing retard when shifting a 5 speed, but that requires all new sensors and harnesses. I THINK I can use the wiring diagrams to mod the OEM harness and then tune the shift retard out with one of the remote tuners, or a chip. I also want to keep the other Cobra programming maps in the Cobra ECU, but there's alot more to it. I'm just not good at things that don't require a wrench.

I really don't know the difference between the pre 94-95 and the 94-95 computer systems. I do know that I only had to use a few of the sensors (MAP, BAP, TPS is what I can think of now. Send an e-mail to Ryan at fordfuelinjection.com and get his input on your conversion. The one positive thing with the 94-95 swap may be with the angle of the inlet pipe to the TB. It should give you a little more space for running the pipe. I am using a computer from a 88 Cali car and a 90 engine. You should replace the sensors when you do the swap. Less things to try and work through if you have electrial problems with the swap, just my .02. On the other hand you may have to change your computer...... Don't listen to me, just email Ryan he is the expert.
