so my dads told me he will get me something to take back and forth to school. this counts as my graduation from college gift and if i start failing it goes for sale. i know you can call me spoled, i just really dont want to take my gt becasue i dont want people to mess with it.

he said hed look at anything less than 10k, within 100 miles of 23113, and had less than 100,000 miles. he wants it to be an SUV too. which means that trucks are okay, but im not big on those...

ive had my heart set on a grand cherokee (99-04) but theres only 6 that fit the above criteria with a v8. i plan on owning this car for a good while, using it as my dd once out of school and everything.

anything else i can look at? 96+ cherokee's would work, but they ride like crap, i want something comftorble, its a 3.5 hour trek to school.

shoot me some ideas.

I'd say f150. Reliable as heck. cept the 5.4 tritons which have a problem blowing sparkplugs right out the heads. My van with that engine just blew its second spark plug out. But I am in love with trucks. Or get an extended cab ranger.

Lucky you - I downgraded my daily V6 to a 4-popper so I could save on gas for my new 45-minute commute every day. In a couple months I can sell it though, so that's nice :)

I have no idea what to get, but you should know what you want. Figure it out and track one down :) Get a 5.0 Ranger!

dude...gas here is 2.89 for regular and from what i understand we are among the lowest in the country...not sure what it is by you but understand that a V8 grand cherokee will get you 12-15mpg, maybe 18 on the highway.

EDIT: www.fueleconomy.gov says a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 4.7 V8 is rated by the EPA at 15 city 19 highway. those numbers hurt my wallet.

glad you decided not to take the stang but be smart here. dont blow all your $ on gas, save some to use on the stang later or even just to live off of and have fun

I myself am looking for a ford probe gt as a DD...sporty looks peppy performance and 20-25mpg...seems like a good balance to me

my dad's stubborn, and he doesnt think any honda will make it. trust me i tried. so that leaves me a cherokee... nothing else is effecient....

let me get this straight...your dad doesnt think a honda...some of the most reliable cars ever built...will make a 3.5 hr drive? my beat ass 1984 GT mustang with a grinding tranny made that long of a trip without missing a beat...

there are TONS of vehicles more efficient than a grand cherokee...go on that site i posted above and research fuel mileage ratings...you will be fine

still baffled that your dad is afraid of a honda breaking down....

Try a thunderturd? v-6 or v-8 doesn't really matter both sluggish one might sound a little better. If you rather have a truck try a 92-96 f-150 snag one with the 300 6 cylinder in it. Had one in the family that went 297k before it threw a rod because we forgot to put oil in it with a small rear main seal leak.
