Yeah, you might not want to be reading BDT's girl of my dreams thread while handling heavy objects. :D
(Couldn't resist)
Sorry, that just flew out of my (3) typing fingers before I could stop it.

How could you drop an alternator on your toes? I usually drop them on the P/S pump (breaking the top of the dipstick); but they don't make it all the way down through the engine compartment and steering gear to my feet. (Sorry, it happened again)
Seriously, though, any damage - first to your toes and then to the alternator?

I was coming out of the parts store. And I dropped it. Stupid me, I have a habit of sticking my foot out when I drop something so it doesn't hit the floor so hard, and I just stuck my foot out for it to hit. I usually do this with smaller, lighter things that I don't want to break, so I just did it out of habit.:bang:

I had a friend drop a torque converter on his foot while he was trying to put it onto the top shelf of a rack in his garage. It took him 3 days to go to the doctor. That's when his big toe was black and the size of a sausage. Found out after the x-rays that he broke the tip of his toe bone off. There was fun had by all razzing him about that for years after. We were sitting there telling him "You don't want to put it up there, there's a spot on the bottom shelf" :D If your friends can't laugh at you who can?

when i worked at a car wash, years ago when i was in high school, i had the front tire of a lincoln park on my foot for about 10 seconds. i was limping around for about 2 hours after that, but otherwise no damage.

Ack.. I do the same thing with my foot when I drop things and have worried I will someday react with the wrong item. Maybe I can 'learn from others' like I tell my son and stop that habit. Happy healing :(
