I am thinking of moving to the Houston area, the other day I started reading about the inspection and emissions testing in Texas. I am hoping I can just keep my Mustang registered and insured in Florida, and have a Florida only license.....I will have a DD in Texas and not drive the Mustang all that much....anyway...

Emissions shows that you need to have tail pipes, along with passing low emissions. I have dumps and do NOT plan on putting pipes back on. I am thinking that I might buy one of those cheap cat-back setups and put in some cats for the testing. Bolt it up for the test, then go back to my current setup after I pass. I am pretty sure that I can create a tune that along with the cats would allow me to pass. I just don't know if I will get pulled over with no pipes.

Also, front license plates. How strict to they enforce that? Again, it is something I don't want to do and would like to get around it if possible.

I know here in Florida, when they had emissions testing, people would have two sets of exhaust. One for the test, and one they had on the other 364 days of the year. They would adjust the timing to pass, then go back to "normal". It worked for the most part, I just don't know how many times I will get pulled over with no pipes.

What do Texans do?

well I live in San Antonio and have dumps and so do many other people here in texas I dont think that will be a problem. about the front license plate I also dont have one and lots of other people say that cop dont bother them about it unless they get pulled over for something then they might also give you a ticket I have heard that small town cops will give out tickets for that since they would really give u a ticket for anything they can.

im sure other people from texas will tell u their experience on this 2 things.

I serioustly wouldnt worried about the dumps though lots of people have them here about the front license plate it goes both ways really

im from houston and inspestions are a b%@ch but the good thing is that houston is the 4 th largest city in the us and belive me there are plenty of places that you can go and pay double= 60 for a sticker that is registered through the dmv, front license plate nessesary but not enforced, unless you have wacky tabacky smoke pluming from your windows then it would give the cop a reason to pull you over. and if you did get a ticket the courts here are so crowded and the cops have so much else going on that all you need to do is remember what shift you were given the ticket and arrangea trial by judge the shift you werent given the ticet on and 9 out of ten time the officer will not show and case is dimissed. these are not fixes but just to let you know that dont worry to much its a big city and there are better things for the cops to do. save this email adress [email protected] and ill introduce you to my inspection sticker guy!! unless you are a cop.......then this is all a lie!!!!!!!!!!!! welcome to houston other than the incredible heat and humidity its a wonderfull place to live there is always something to do.:flag:
