Need help finding a part!

Ok here is the situation... I have a 78 MII and to reduce weight I moved from power steering to a manual rack. The problem is that the manual driveshaft is considerably smaller in diameter than the power rack.

This is the part I need to fit a manual rack:

Does anyone know where I can find one or does anyone have one laying around? This is the only part I need to get my II back on the road. But it is a really important part :)

Thanks if anyone can help,
Chad

Flaming River has a rag joint that will work when going from a power to a manual rack. I am not sure of the part number, but I called them when I did the conversion. I expained my setup and I think it was around $80 bucks for the part you are looking for with a smaller diameter.

It's funny, that is who I bought the rack from and who I had been working with... but I did not know the name of the part "Rag Joint." As soon as I had the proper name the guy says "Oh I know exactly what you need now" ARGGGGGGGGGG

$87.89... Well worth it if it gets me back on the road!

Thanks Andy,
Chad

another thought for you....i also converted to a manual rack. the pinion on the manual rack is longer than the power rack and i thought there might be a couple issues. the 2 issues were that i didnt have the shaft from the manual steer car, so my shaft was too long and the clearance issue between the rag joint had i had one and the headers since the joint was moved up. i went with a borgeson joint. one end had the spline for the pinion and the other a 3/4" bore if memory serves. i cut my old shaft down, had to turn the end down a tad bit, then welded the end of the joint on the shaft. if you cant seem to get these joints to work, that could be a solution for you. hope this helps.

Well ended up the RagJoint from Flaming River was not an exact fit... I think I could make it fit but... At this point I am not exactly sure what I am going to do. Need to sleep on it for a day or two.

Thanks for sharing your solution, I may have to go that way.

also addicted measure the diameter of yours for i dont know if this cam from a power or manual hate to have you get this one from me and still in same boat .........so when i get measurements i will check mine leave a contact number in my emai i sent you thanks again addicted

If I remember right, the couple is D shaped and the rod at the end of the rack is round. I had to grind the rod down to fit. I'm pretty sure that I used the fox body coupler, but I don't remember exactly what I did to get it to fit
