MGW best shifter & cus. service

I changed from Pro 5.0 to a MGW for the adjustible throw. Put it in yesterday & loved it , on the way home a wrx picked on me so I banged 'em hard & bent the adjustible shift linkage bracket. Called today to order a new one & they asked how did I bend it, don't know, they said it is in the mail & no cost -thank you

How can it be the best shifter if you bend it the first time you use it?

What part did you bend, the part that you adjust the shift throw? How did you know you bent it? Did you have it set outside of the working parameters?

No I had it 8 turns out & banged it really had w/out the stops. The guy @ MGW can't believe it bent either. We' ll see if it happens again.

Went to screw it in & it stopped. So I pulled the drive shaft took it out & it had a curve @ the threads.

Who is the guy that is the mgw avenger, anthony05gt? Who ever it is I am suprised he is not in here deffending them and trying to sell us all one right now.

Did it do anything out of the ordinary or did it work fine until you decided to adjust it? I am wondering if I should check my MGW shifter. It is working really good so far.

It is official, every after-market shifter has had issues. I still really like the MGW so I am hoping that you are an isolated case...

not to stir trouble but I talked to George at MGW and asked him about what really happend with this and he said that it really sounded like he may of had it turned out to far past the recomended turn. So it may not have been the shifters fault.

That is what I thought originally too and why I asked that earlier. He did say he had it turned out 8 turns, so...

Like I said before it was only 8 turns out & MGW says you can go 12. I am 230 lbs. & bang gears when I shift, maybe it wasn't meant to be pulled that hard. I also said that they had excellent cuustomer service & I liked the shifter just had a small problem.

I am not saying Burke didn't have a problem-if he says he did, he did. As far as I have read, it's the one and only such case. There could easily have been a defective part, and George took care of it. The bushing thing, sounds to me like in his effort to make his shifter the best it could be, George just got the tolerance too close and Dupont gave him bad information concerning the thermal expansion factor. I have no doubt George will remedy the bushing problem in the near future. I had this problem. I just re-installed the OE Ford bushings and now have no problems. This is a kick ass shifter-make no mistake about that.

Some people (myself included) had a problem with the plastic bushings that came with the MGW shifter. These are the bushings where the transmission shift rod connects to the shifter. When conditions were cool, no problem- but in warmer weather and after the car had been driven a few miles and had gotten hot, the shifter seemed to "tighten up" and actually got hard to shift. I just put my OE bushings and no more problem. George is working on a new bushing made from a different material. These new bushings will be sent out to shifter owners soon.

My wife complained that it was a liittle difficult to get in gear so I crawled under & was going to turn it all the way in & see if she liked that, there is when I found my problem. Love the shifter just a small problem, MGW took care of it & its all good now.
