Thinking about an S2000

Well the fox IS 14 years old... SO I really hope an expensive NEW sports car will be safer than a car based on the 79 Fairemont

A pink shirt and an s2000 will definetely help you pick up dudes.

Not to mention, they are awfully expensive for such a underpowered car. Price used is up there with a used c5 corvette, which has a removeable roof if you really need a vert.

This is the same attitude that leads people to believe that a large SUV is the safest choice for their family (it isn't). There is nothing unsafe about the S2000. In fact, I would bet that it's much safer than any Fox body could ever dream of being.

I would rather be in a Suburban hitting an S2000 Head On than in the S2000, so I will stick with the Attitude that the Large SUV would be the Safer Choice.

True, although in a nimble sportscar, you're more likely to avoid the situation altogether. Statistically, large sedans are safer than either. None of the above are "coffins."

Ok guys, a little 4.6L snake beat some sense into me the other day. I went and test drove a 1998 Cobra with some suspension mods( steeda strut brace, offset rack bushings, steeda springs, tokico adjustables, flows) and the thing was a beast in the straights as well as the twisties.

Best thing is the guy is the original owner and had it garaged for it's entire life. The car has not one paint issue and it still feels super smooth, no oxidation at all.
37K original miles, he put the car on his in-house rack so I could inspect the under carriage. Not one leak or seep of any oil and the damn A/C is like antarctica!!

I didn't buy the S2000 yet until I finished driving all the cars I wanted to drive. But after taking a spin in the Cobra and the throaty Modular V8 I was like, oh Shiizzle.

The car is less than half the price of an S plus much better insurance rates.

What does everyone think? I'm considering selling the notchback and purchasing a Honda S2000. I test drove one and the thing would eat my notchback alive. The handling is incredible, yeah it's low one torque but has great top end. It's pretty good on gas (25-27 overall mpg) and has rock solid reliability.

Should I do it or not?

I have a '06 S2000. Definitely the most focused and one of the best engineered cars I have ever owned. The "fun" factor is hard to beat in the S and on the track, the car shines. On the street, the lack of torque can be very annoying, but on the track you won't miss it, the car is always in the power band. I was planning on installing a "roots" style supercharger when they become available, but I decided to not make the investment, just drive the Mustang and sell the S. So as of last week, I have the S2K up for sale.

Don't trust your mpg estimates, my best mpg was 24 and I average 22 mpg. However, the S2000 is extremely reliable, never one problem, even after many trips to the track for some lapping fun.

Well, I finally did it. I will be the owner of a pristine White 1998 Cobra w/37K original miles from original owner. Only mods are steeda suspension(camber plates, sway bar, ball joints, springs and tokico adjustables). Wooooo Hooooooo!!!!!!!!

For sure!! The low end torque is just an afterthought now. I can't believe that I'm already thinking about a power adder (Vortech etc.) even though I don't take ownership until mid august.
