For anyone in this area in California beware. Yesterday afternoon someone broke into my Mustang GT and Saleen. Somehow they're targeting Mustang along with other few cars. My sister had her 05 BMW 5 Series parked in the driveway and was also broken into a few days before. They took the remote to the garage and decided to come back when no one was home and got into my garage. They tore the Saleen apart along with my mustang gt. Everything that I had recently done to the interior on both vehicles is gone. The lightning was parked on the other side of the garage and was unharmed. Somehow they tried to break into it since they scratched the key hole and handle with whatever device they were trying to use. All the gauges on the saleen where riped out and tore my whole dash. They took my BBK X-pipe along with the MAC H-Pipe that I had purchased a few months ago along with various parts that I was waiting to install. Stereo, Sub's, speakers all gone.

I contacted the police as soon as I got home and I was informed that I wasn't the only one hit. 1 block away they broke into a Mustang and a Subaru that was nicely modified. They also informed me that they believe it to be a ring of thieves targeting all these upscale neighborhoods and modified cars. They said that in the last 2-3 months there has been 31+ cases reported of thieves stealing cars and breaking into garages. What they do is they'll break a small window (if your garage door has one) and will pull the emergency cord that releases the door from the garage door motor allowing them access to the garage. The investigator that is assigned to our case told me that out of those 31 cases 19 have been mustangs. Our neighbors are really open and they tell us that they always leave their car doors unlocked and house doors unlocked because they never have seen anything like this around our neighborhood.

So I know this was a long thread but I'd rather speak up now rather than hear someone elses car gotten broken into. Spreading the word is better than staying quite. Just make sure if you guys have those emergency release cord hanging from the garage door... Just cut them so they can't reach and allow them easy access. Just keep a close eye out and the investigator also told me that they will scope the place before they hit. So if you notice someone odd in your neighborhood call the police and make it known that your not going to be that easy target. We have cameras installed all around our house which 2 cameras are pointing towards the garage and one camera towards the street. After going over the video with the investigator he noticed that the truck they used to pull all of this off had actually followed me home the day before and we see that same truck pass at least 2-3 times before they actually made the move. They got the plate number but the truck was also stolen. Hopefully with this video they can catch them and put a stop to this.

Now I have to start all over :nonono:

I'm in the middle of that and they're telling me since it's over $500 in stolen goods that my insurance will cover 75% and home owners might cover the rest. They're unsure at the moment but I know I'll get some of that back. It just sucks

I'm sorry to hear that man. If that would have happened to me I probably would have gone to jail for murder. We work too hard to have nice things and to have some a-holes just come and take them. You have my sympathy and thanks for the update.

First off, I'm sorry to hear about that. Some people just need to be shot in the face!

The only thing I'd be somewhat weary about is that they took the remote and robbed you in that manner. What I mean is, insurance may see it as a "nobody BROKE in" type of thing. Like you are trying to fraud the insurance co. I remember when I watched those "bump key" videos and the police in Germany (or wherever) were saying that a lot of people weren't getting covered because there was no proof of a break in (jimmy'd locks, broken windows, etc.)

This is a reason, among many others, why I have a couple sneaky cameras around my house.

But yeah, thieves are running wild for some reason right now ... someone stole my ****ing mailbox (plastic one) the other night. wtf :nonono:

fix ur car clean it park it there again and sit on ur porch with a scatter gun and when they come back shot center mass., i had my 96 cobra stolen right out of my driveway a few years ago, so i know exactly how u feel, its horrible

Yeah... I feel like crap. Homeowners insurance agreed to pay for the damages done to my cars and I got them to change the current garage remotes yesterday afternoon. I was surprised that I was being helped within 24 hrs of the break in. They said if it wasn't for the cameras capturing them breaking in they would only cover a certain percentage. Like most of you have said there wasn't any forced entry. But it was all caught on camera so they evaluated the damages yesterday and will give me an offer with in the following days.

I just wish that I could have been home while this was going on. But then again who knows... I might have killed someone. I don't mind unloading my 9mm in cases such like this. I've been searching thru ebay and craigs list just in-case I see parts for sale. Maybe that will lead me somewhere.

Thanks for the comments... If there's any advise that I can give... Just always be on the look out. I'd hate for someone to be feeling the way that I feel right now.

Well thats very impressive on the insurance company's part. I'm glad to hear it!! Out of curiousity, how did they get into your car(s)? Meaning, did they break windows/jimmy locks or did they find the keys?

Also, I assume that the cops processed the scene (fingerprints, footprints, etc.)??

Both the Saleen and the GT are convertibles. So they slipped something in where the window meets the convertible top and I guess aimed it towards the unlock button. The reason I suspect this is because I had a bunch of scuff marks that weren't there before right where the unlock/lock control unit is. Plus part of the weatherstrip was torn and I know for a fact it wasn't torn since I replaced it 3 months ago when water was leaking into the cars during some storms. I always keep all of my car keys in a safe that's bolted to the floor in my room.

The cops did process the scene for fingerprints but they were wearing gloves so there's no fingerprints. As for footprints they got a few of them after comparing them to my shoes. I once spilled some jack & coke on the garage floor (which is a sin) and I never cleaned it up. I was too drunk to and with that said... they got a very good footprint as one of the thieves stepped right on the spill.

edit: One thing though is that they did break the window to my sisters BMW which they reached for the garage door control.

That footprint might seem rather insignifigant but its really good that they got it. Because I'd think that whoever did it is still in the area (+/-) .. Usually when they steal cars, they don't stick around for long (for obvious reasons) but when its property and planned like that, it would seem to me that they are familiar with your area.

Good for you for keeping the safe bolted to the floor! I have mine bolted down also. A friend of mine once, had three guys kick his door down and pistol whipped him .. long story short, they straight up lifted his safe and took it since it was just sitting on the floor.

Hopefully the cops will catch these POS people. They have got some nerve to break into a car and then go back to the same house to do it again. Man that really pisses me off.

Oh yeah, I was gonna throw this out there for you ... have you pissed anybody off lately? Does anybody have some type of vendetta towards you? Thats where I'd start but if nobody has any 'beef' with you or your sister then you can rule that out .. I'm sure you probably already went through that though ...

My condolenses on your turn of fate.......

I live in the tampa area in Forida. Over here, When I was younger, somebody broke into my parents house and stole almost $3k worth of my dads work tools. Afetrwards, my dad put up wooden bars and metal mesh over the window. When I moved into my first house, that was the first thing I did to the garage. And It's a good thing I did. After being there about two months, I heard a loud noise come from my garage. (I'm a shallow sleeper) My stang is locked up in there when I'm not using it, and for fear something fell on it from the storage above, I went to investigate. On a side note, I work at a gun shop, so I have plenty of weapons and tactical stuff (including surefire flashlights... one of the best investments I made) Anyways I always bring my .45 beretta couger with me. I opened the door to see a guy trying to break through the mesh, but he couldn't. He had already broken the window, so as soon as he saw the gun and i blinded him with the surefire, he bolted. Eventually he was caught red handed like a week later, and through the courts got him to pay me 400.00 for restitution. ( window was like 70.00 but I had a friend who wrote up a estimate) so I used the rest of the money to buy a new gun. lol

I've given that a thought but to be honest... I don't start anything with anyone. I treat people the way that I like to be treated. My parents were involved in a home invasion a few years back. Samething... They pistol whipped my dad and shoved him into the house. They got my mom and tied her up and tossed her into the bathroom. They took their safe that wasn't bolted to the floor and got away with a large sum of money and personal information. Plus they raided the house and took everything that was of value. Ever since that happened my sister and I prepared our selfs (well so we thought) with cameras, full security system w panic buttons and so forth. I think the next step is secure the garage along with our driveway. Our German Shepherd is pretty aggresive when it comes to strangers but our fence limits him. So we are now thinking of adding a fence along the driveway so our garage and driveway are secure this way are dog is able to run loose thru out our whole house.

Unfortunetley nothing can stop these people, but you can slow them down, or turn them away. You should get a club for the wheel, and pedal lock. Put an alarm sticker on the window to make them think you have an alarm (if you don't already). Make a fuel cutoff switch, and hide it in a real good place.
