Ok guys as I've mentioned before I just ordered a Hi-Flow H-pipe from MRT. It should be in tomorrow and hopefully I can get it installed this weekend. So now I'm contemplating my next mod. To date I've taken a completely stock 03 gt and added Roush Chrome 18s and Roush Side Skirts with Spintech Mufflers. Mods have been slow to come by since at the time I got the car I was still in college and everybody knows that college students are broke 24/7. Now that I'm out and making a little money I'm trying to catch up. This is my overall gameplan (subject to change):

1. Exhaust (loud and deep as possible)
2. Sound system (I have the Mach 460 but it sounds like trash now)
3. Exterior Styling (bodykits, lowering springs, custom lighting, etc.)
4. Performance (I want to have at least 300 horses by time I finish)
5. Interior Styling (guages, gadgets, neon lights, etc.)

I posted this message to see what is a good "first" speed mod? I've heard different opinions from a tuner, gears, CAI, hedders, pulleys, and so forth. So I guess I'm asking you guys opinions.

P.S. SOrry I havn't posted any pics yet. I broke my digital camera a while back and I've been too cheap/lazy to go get another one so far.

Well, if you have roush side skirts, why not do it right and get a side exhaust? Looks stupid as hell with the empty spot...

anyways, do it right. don't be a ricer. performance over looks. i don't believe you wrote "neon lights" and "gadgets". Cmon man. Are you LOOKING to get flamed?

1. finish your exhaust right
2. Gears
3. blower
4. exterior styling (no, don't say "body kits". Think "clean", not rice.)
5. save money for a house.

Don't do bolt ons and look for 300hp. I hope guys with just about 300hp come in and tell you the oodles of cash they put down to get that. Probably between 2-4k with labor, etc. since you're probably looking at cams, long tubes, etc. and those are pretty labor intensive.

Just my $0.02. DO YOUR RESEARCH.

Actually I have the complete side exhaust kit, tips and all (my bad I thought i mentioned that in my post). As far as neons I mean white faced gauges and other **** that normally lights up in the interior of the car :)

1st: gears, lowering springs, shocks/struts
2nd: supercharger, dyno tune
3rd: LT headers
Dont waste your money on any other bolt-ons. If you want more power down the road, do some cams or save for a built motor.
4th: styling- exterior: Roush Stage 3 body kit since you've already got the skirts, wheels and side exhaust. Interior: gauges to monitor blower (A/F, boost, fuel, trans temp)

Well I may have been a little misleading when I say 300 HP. I'm not racer and I completely ignore all the little terds who pull up next to me at stop lights and rev their engines. I just want something comparable to a stock 05+ GT or a stock 02 Camaro (since thats what most of my friends drive anyways). I'm not a speed deamon by any sense nor do I want to be. I just want a little more throttle kick. This is why I listed performance as last on my list (A no-no in muscle car culture I'm sure).

he DID say spintech mufflers
Did you buy an off orad H? That'll give you that deep/burly/loud. A catted H sounds like.....well a well flowing stock mid pipe

If your not going to be running it at the track then a blower isnt essential, just best bang for your buck.
LT headers if you have the time and/or money
3.73/3.90s
good sticky tires
JLT plastic composite CAI
70/75mm TB+Plenum
u/d pulleys
dyno tune / SCT tuner
springs + shock/struts
Steed Tri-Ax shifter
man...yeah you still needs cams: VT stage II cams + valve springs (or Stage I if u have harsh smog laws)

That should bring you right about at 300 and definitly over 300tq
if not, at least it'll feel like it w/ the gears

you'll need a blower or nitrous to beat an LS1. sorry, our 2Vs suck. and even if you want 300hp, you'll need a either a blower, nitrous, or heads/cams (still might be slightly below 300hp even with heads and cams).

Yeah the mid pipe I bought was catted. Eventhough it probably not as good a the off-road hopefully its still a noticeable improvement from what I have currently (stock). And I live in Texas so we have pretty strict smog laws :(

Dude, don't let the "off road" guys scare you. Youre catted MRT H is not holding much HP. On top of that, the sound is not ANYTHING like your "stock H just a little more flow".

Thats Bull****.

You will feel it noticably faster with that midpipe alone. You might lose 5 HP overall compared to an off road H. Is it worth it, to keep your car a little more tame sounding, deeper, and throatier? Not to mention, you'll be able to breathe at stop lights.

i live in texas and i only know of 1 or 2 places in town that won't pass you if you don't have cats. i mean DANG i passed my 78 carlo with no muffler and holes in the freakin pip and in the cat. just find the right places and they don't care!

i run catted:shrug: Still think the true burly/loudness comes from o/r h. Im not saying it wont sound good at all
