from what i was told, it depends on how you drive. if you car spends a lot of time in the lower rpm's go with the pullies. if you do alot of drag racing get the plates. they make a difference at higher rpm's and wide open throttle. i hope this helps. i went with the steeda and could tell difference. you should stay away from the trottle body until the car has some more modifications. just my .02
 
Yeah, that is kind of what I was thinking.....did you actually feel a SOP difference with the deletes? I am not racing this car.....my 01 is for that...this is my daily driver and I don't want to kill the comforts......I just have that damn mod bug and I can never quench it.....lol

First off I have to say thanks to Andy that gave me these plates back in November and I've just now gotten the time to install them. Well, had my guy here install them and I went out when they were finished and tuned it.

Finally, the results I've gotten from them were 6rwhp and nearly 10 rwtq overall but in the mid range gains of 7-9 rwhp and 8-10 rwtq from 3000 rpm's and up. At the time for $85 they were a very worthwhile investment, now I think you can get them for around $150 still ?

I've got them and haven't had a bit of problems out of them. It's like everything else, its not going to feel like a supercharger or anything, but every little bit adds up, especially if you're staying NA. For less than $200, I think they are a great deal.
 
So what kind of mods should I have before going with a new T-body? I'm running out of NA Ideas here. I've thought about the CM plates or a new T-body as my next mod or a new alum driveshaft. Any ideas? I'm waiting to get a SC for when the new camaros come out.
 
From what I've heard the thottlebody isn't worth it until you install cams or P/P heads or both. Otherwise you are not moving enough air to overcome the stock throttlebodies' limitations. Of course forced induction also brings up the same issues but you have to worry about your internals way before the stock throttlebody becomes a bottleneck.
 
How difficult is it to install the plates? How long did it take? The next mod I am looking at is between the UDP set and this. The UDP scares me because of belt tension issues. This one makes me a bit nervous digging into the engine when it only has 8,800 miles on it. Will these installs void warranties?

I've never broken in to my engine as far as taking the intake (not the CAI, the intake) off before and it was a piece of cake (took probably a total of 2 hours, but that was taking my time and BS'ing with friends). Basically, follow the instructions and you'll be fine. I found some write-up's online and printed them out to go by as well (found them on TMS I believe). Remember to switch the OEM gaskets over to the delete plates, but other than that, it's all nuts and bolts.

As far as warranty, you do have your tune adjusted for them. If you don't have a tune, you'll need to get one. Basically, the spark or fuel tables are adjusted and the motor that controls them are turned off via the tune. Just quickly looking at the engine, you can't tell they are there, but if you look on the back side of the engine, you'll notice the motor gone. If they have to reflash your computer for any reason, you might be in trouble until you could get a new tune added.

As far as the whole warranty being voided, they can't do that. The can deny warranty work if the aftermarket part caused the problem, but that's it. Basically, if you install these and your stereo goes out down the road, they can't blame it on these since it wouldn't have anything to do with it.

You will love the driveshaft as far as good mod, the deletes will require a new tune & not as much SOP as a driveshaft.
 
I must say that to me they were worth it. Ofcourse I gutted my factory ones myself so it didnt really cost me much of anything. I did have to drive the car for about 2 weeks without a new tune because Doug was pretty backed up at the time. It didnt give me so much as a hickup without the tune.

I will also say that pullies are also worth it for the money. I did feel a little bit of a difference. Mostly in that the engine would rev much faster. Dont worry about belt tension as the pullies basically just swap the diameters of the crank and WP pullies, so belt tension is the same.

The driveshafts are another great investment. Car revs quicker, shifts and accelerates smoother, and quicker.
