Hey guys, this is plain and simple. Which superchagers are the best for street? Lets get past the thought of drag racing and revving it past 6 grand. How about everyday driving. Wouldn't the Kennebell(Roots style) superchargers be the best? As they produce impressive torque at low rpms and hp. Where as the Centrigual's don't kick on until like 3 grand?(Correct me if i'm wrong) And there peak hp is usually 6000 grand or higher. Now personally i don't drive my stang on the street at 6 grand. So what good is that gonna do for me? Idk, for how easy the installation is and for the impressive low end torque the Kennebell's make, it just seems like the right choice!? Lets here your experience or opinions. Or even some dyno results. Whatever works. But right now i'm just stuck on the Kennebells. And yes the Paxton and Vortech blowers have higher hp #'s(well atleast from what i normally see) but wouldn't the kennebell's be just a fun street blower? I mean i won't lie, its tempting not to just go and slap on a Vortech just for the bigger #'s to show off to your friends, but for the actually use of the car, wouldn't KB be the right choice?

Wow... we've covered this topic more times than I can count. Hit up the search button in here and in the tech section and see what you come up with. If you have have questions after that, post em here.

The Kenne Bell BTW... is NOT a roots or roots style supercharger. Yes... it's a whole lot of fun. No, I would not swap my KB for a Vortech. I "might" consider a turbo setup but they often have their own peculiar set of woes (like any power adder). My only bitch about my KB is that those asshats didn't bother integrating an intercooler with the 5oh kits. It would not suprise me if KB discontinued kits for 5oh before too long. I can't imagine that there are many 5oh guys out there that are thrilled with the Kenne Bell's lack of intercooler and/or the way that they do business that disuades a 3rd party from developing one.

Nutshell:

Blower = :nice:
Kenne Bell company practices = :notnice:
Lack of an intercooler for 5oh on higher HP apps = :notnice:
2.2L blower on ANY Ford small, stock block combo = :nice:
Hooking from a stop light against Joe Cool turbo rice and putting two bus lengths on him before he can even THINK to hit his NAWZ... FN PRICELESS!

Oh and.... 10 holes FTW! :flag:

Whats the rest of the combo going to be? I personally run a S trim and love it, makes great power and the car is a blast to drive. Before the vortech I had a BD-11A powerdyne, for what it was it was a good little supercharger got it used for about $700 so I couldnt beat it. Paxton and Procharger are also very good units(though I wouldnt suggest the entry procharger, forget the model). Biggest thing is your budget, Kenne Bell stuff isnt cheap at all but do make monster torque.

I would go with a Vortech or Pro Charger. They are the most common. I had a ProCharger P600B on my 95 GT with that and GT40 aluminum heads, intake, and 3 core intercooler I made 11lbs and turned over 113MPH in the quarter.....but that was with a 3.08 gear!!!!!! WOW, did that car pull on the eway. You could drop it into 2nd gear at 60, and hammer it, and nothing touched that car, I never got into 4th gea, because 2nd and 3rd pulled FOREVER!!! I have a Vortec on my Cobra only running 8lbs and that car is fast at the track, and from a dead dig. I can't take many people from a roll at more than 45MPH cause the 4.10 won't allow 2nd gear, and 3rd won't put cars on anybody......Definatley go centrifical....

ha but were not talking quarter mile. i'm talking street driving! I'm not driving on the street at 5 grand or higher! Thats where Vortech blowers have the most hp too. And i wouldn't be there very often!

I smell burnt rubber. These cars are hard to hook to begin with, add tons of tq down low and your going to basically be at 6000 anyway, while the tires spin and the car goes nowhere. I personally would do a centrifucal blower merely because they DO make power down low, but shine up top, which is where a 5.0 seems to be lacking. Also why own and mod a Mustang that wont ever see 5000 RPM? There are much better cars out there for down low grunt and pull?

I can speak from personal experience that KB blowers are THE best for the street. My buddy had a 2L flow/blowzilla on his 95SN car with a ported gt-40 lower, bolt ons, and 3.73's. That car was so much fun on the street and still went 113 in the quarter. It made full boost (9lbs) by 2100 rpms! You could put it in 2nd and pull out onto a road in front of anyone and just PULL up to speed! Very very torquey and perfect for a daily driver! I will run a vortec because i want the top end and crazy powerband! But that KB whine is intoxicating!
