Spec Stage 2 and Peddle Pressure

theres a lot of factors that play in how a clutch lasts or works, installation, break in procedure, cleanliness, etc. if your flywheel is not resurfaced when the clutch is being done thats an automatic asking for clutch chatter right there along with taking the life span away from the clutch.you dont clean everything real well, another reason for chatter and eventually toasting a clutch.break in plays a big part too and a lot of ppl think oh 1000 miles i'll just do a lot of highway driving and it will be broken in in no time, not true.actually clutch break in consists on city like driving, lots of stop and go.if a clutch is not broken in correctly it will blow with days,i've seen it done with ppl that can not drive stick well and ride the hell out a brand new clutch.my opinion is spec stage 2 is and EXCELLENT clutch, had one in my car for years and it took a HARD beating, finally just replaced it for another.had a king cobra before that, junk.last me a mater of maybe 8 months before half the clutch disc melted itself to the pressure plate, had a friends do the same things.horrible clutch.peddle feel is no traffic friendly on a spec stage 2 but after a while you get used to it.

I agree that the Spec Stage 2 is a good clutch for holding power. It is streetable and there is little to no chatter if installed correctly and broken in (12.1 at the NED).

My PROBLEM with Spec Stage 2 is that Spec claims pedal pressure is close to stock. I posted on several forums and got the same replies... pedal pressure is not even close to stock as you stated. You get used to it to some degree, but after feeling the pedal pressure on other setups, I feel mislead. They should just be honest and let the customer know that pedal pressure will firm up considerably. Instead, they had me reinstall my quadrant and cable. Then, they tell me to send it in to be checked, phooey. It is just straight up a firm pedal. My install went flawlessly by a highly qualfied tech. We didn't fool around with the stock quadrant and used a firewall adjuster to adjust the bearing play.

I love my ram powergrip! it hooks great and is not too hard on the foot...never heard anything bad about spec till I started reading on here. King cobra's grab great too, but man they can be hard to push!

im going to break in my spec 2 i just had installed today right now, im sceeered!!!
i took my car to cpr all they deal with is 99% of mustang they installed my clutch and resurfaced the flywheel i broke the clutch in for 500 miles and thats not highway i do alot of heavy city driving and this clutch is total b/s im taking the car back to cpr i talked with them today he said we will try the adjuster and if that don't fix it he recomends ram as he has never had problems with them.. btw he said im not the first person to complain about spec at his shop... live and learn and everyone who wonders... DON'T GO SPEC!! they will not return phone calls or emails!

oh boy

Oh boy... I just switched to 26 spline on my RPM Level V trans... I switched to a spec 2. I had 3+ with the 10 spline and thought it was a great clutch but too much for the car and the way I like to launch. To On/Off for my taste.

The new spec 2 is now rated for 589tq and I run around 540 at the engine so I figured it would be a good choice.

I am really angry at spec because they sent me a stage 2 disk that had a chip out of it and they insist it had to have happened in shipping. They asked me to take pictures of it and then send it back. I payed the shipping and didnt complain. I called them back and told them to just charge for a new one because I needed it by this past friday. When it was friday and I still had not reciveed it I called and they said they waited until they got the old one back so I wont get it until MOnday. My car was due in the shop yesterday. Spec refused to over night me what I needed and when I complained about getting a damaged part to begin with they asked me if I took pictures of the damaged box! WTF is that? I am certain that it came damaged....im not sure that the little ship would have made a difference but they asked for it back. Now its like they are blaming me for the problem..

I WONT GET ANOTHER SPEC JUST BECAUSE OF THIS. I made it clear I needed the part back by friday and they failed and NEVER appoligized either. I just bought my 3+ this summer and I spent thousands on their clutches and this is how I was treated.

I hope my 2 doesnt suck. I liked the firmer feel of the stock pedal in my car when I bought it so I doubt the pedal will bother me.. BUt I heard people say that my 3+ would be really stiff and it didnt feel any different than my FMS Racing clutch did.

...

Yeah well.. im just waiting until I have my clutch in and everything is working before I really rip them a new one on every internet board I can find.

Tomorrow I have to hope that UPS leaves my clutch disk at the door so that I can make another trip to the shop and give it to him..

My mechanic also said that he didnt think I needed everything they sold me. I told spec I was switching from 10 to 26 spline and wanted to go down to stage 2. They sent me a new disk for the flywheel I bought months ago when I bought the 3+ and they sent a whole new preasure plate. My mechanic wasnt 100% sure but didnt think I needed anything but the new disk because of switching to 26 spline.

I cant wait to see what my new RPM Level V trans is like.

Um just because they didnt have your clutch to you by friday, now your mad as heck? Comeon man I deal with that stuff all the time from almost EVERY company. Thats nothing to get upset about, they probably didnt want to charge you and then have to credit the account back. If the clutch has issues, then complain.

Personally i LOVE my spec stg 3....very sick clutch. And guys you need to go look around the forums and to your suprise you will find that spec has the LEAST complaints accross the boards. Thats why I went with it....I did alot of research before deciding on which to buy.
What you have to remember is that no company can please 100% of its customers 100% of the time and no company can make a 100% perfect product 100% of the time.

Another thing is im VERY cool over the phone and never get upset...even when people make mistakes or if I know they are trying to shaft me. I play dumb and stay very cool. I almost alyways get great customer support. See. what alot of people dont tell you is how rude they are over the phone....and let me tell you that DOESNT win points with alot of buisnesses.

..

Uhhhh Yeah

It came broken in the first place and then I asked them to charge me for a new one because they told me they would send it after they got the old one. I called and explained I needed it friday and Jeremy said he would have one here by thursday but they never bothered to send it.

Who ever the ahole was I talked to on the phone next time he said that it just came to his desk thursday like he didnt give a ****t. It was the combo of attitude and poor service that has me fuming. Unless i FALL IN love with the stage 2 i will not order from them again...

Then there is the fact that they refuse to believe that its even possible that they sent me something that was damaged. Only options seem to be damaged in shipping or i guess i was playing frisbee with it and broke it. come on...and all this after I already bought an entire stage 3+ kit from them this summer.

Oh another thing............

I called and they recommended the stage 3+ this summer. Then I emailed and was told that was too much clutch for my car after the fact. They only sold me the 3+ to mke money imop. Then I called again and asked if there was any reason I shouldnt go with the 2 with my numbers and car and they said it was ok.
