I recently installed a new cam in my engine actually a friend of mine did and we never degreed the cam car seem to be running fine.

Do I need to tear it down again and have that done or should I just leave it

haha. you do not need to degree the cam in. Unless of course your some big time drag racer that goes to the track all the time trying to beat your time by tenths of a second. Line up the dots and your good to go.

Don't be mistaken. Although he should be fine he may have left quite a few ponies on the table by not degreeing the cam in. Even cheap engine dyno software will confirm that moving a cam just 3 or 4 degrees can result in over a 10 HP difference. There are reasons that identical combos can have wildly different results at the track and it's not all in the drivers. Attention to detail is the difference between having an okay performer and having a winner. Degreeing the cam and getting a dyno tune when everything is done and put together can make a huge difference.

true. Perhaps my wording was a little straight forward. Very true though my friend. All in all this guy will be fine though
