Another butcher destroys a 4 eyed stang. It sure is a crappy way to make mine go up in value.

Then look forward to the next jackass crashing one into a telephone poll. Another great way to add value to your car.

Whats the stigma, who gives a ****. People get less flame from putting a chevy motor into a ford body. Look at that guy Ram360 or whatever, that catastrophe of a hood is far less of a hack job than taking off an ugly front fascia and putting on a cleaner more attractive one.

The second I start caring about whether or not someone approves my car for me will be the same instant in which I lop off my genitals.

What ISNT considered here, is that although he is changing it, its still a Mustang. I dont see people complaining when a 67 Mustang gets an Eleanor makeover done to it or when someone takes off a GT nose and puts on a Stalker clip. Sometimes the less of one thing the better, and then it can truly make the best of the minimal left really look good.

Best example. Theres a guy on the forums with a 199X GT, who swapped the nose for a Capri front end. One of the slickest fox's Ive seen. When he introduced it there was NOT A ONE person that had anything negative to say.

I believe I had something negative to say lol. It was a nice car no doubt, but I don't agree with it, so therefore I do not like it.
I don't like four eye to aero swaps or vice versa. It takes away from the cars identity. Areo nose stangs are a dime a dozen, if you don't like a four eyed stang, sell it and get an areo. It really is that simple. You guys will argue that you got the 4 eye cheap, well after you put all the time and money into converting it you really haven't gained anything, not to mention the sharp drop in resale value.

Your car is a nice car as well, from an argumentative standpoint anyone could also say that your car has lost a great deal of its resale value too. The pace car came as a turbo 4 cyl , as a collectible it would have been valued higher as it being stock than as it being converted. Everyone knows that from 79-95 all the mustangs had V8's, how many had turbo 2.3's?

You can say that all you did was an engine swap and made it a better car for your tastes, but in saying that what makes it any different than his intentions?

I'm not sure about your area but I could pick up a coupe similar to his for a couple hundred bucks, and for an aero its a couple grand in mediocre shape. For a vehicle thats not only cheaper to purchase, probably in better shape, lighter, doesnt have to smooth the bay as much, and an all around a cleaner project car, theres very little that doesnt make sense.

rigamaroles, I appreciate your positive critique on Notchbacks and which front bumper covers look good on a notch and which do not. I agree - it's his car and let him do what he wants. I won't flame the guy for doing his own thing, but I will definately disagree with you that a 4-eye nose even a good looking one (I translate that as you meaning the 85-86 nose) doesn't look right on a notch. The 85-86 Notcbacks are gorgeous looking cars and when you actually see a real clean 85-86 5.0 Notch it's cool because they never made a whole lot of these especially in 85 which only 2284 were made total. Anyways - I'll let the pics speak for themselves. The second pic is the current "look" the car has but we just pulled and redid the motor and it will be going back in soon pumping out 400+ hp. I had a 92 red notch with chrome ponies for a year and decided I only wanted one notch so I sold the aeronose. I can always get another one - they're everywhere. I'd never find a 85-86 Notch as nice as mine without spending a lot more than what I originally bought it for.

Again, 85 notches are clean and sweet looking - just my opinion.

I never meant to imply that ALL 4-eye notches are ugly. In one of my other posts it even states that by not having plenty of them around, the nice ones really stand out, similarly to yours. I have seen only a handful of 4-eye notches that seem to fit the bill, the rest look like rez-rockets.

The best part is that we can all buy the cars that we admire, and share them with anyone else that cares to admire them in the same manner as us. No one forces us to buy either one because thats what everyone else likes. You wouldn't expect us Canadians to agree with everything you Americans do, or vise versa. Thats why who really cares what he does with his car.

A nice 4-eye is a nice 4-eye. A nice aero is a nice aero. I dont think there would be anyone complaining if someone dropped off a cobra clone at their door-step.

I treated my 79 notch with the GT/Pace nose, which IMO is the best FOX nose out there. With a factory turbo4 I wanted something a little different. It's still a work in progress...

Honestly.. its his car, he can do what he wants. He probably picked it up for a couple hundred bucks, therefor it was a sweet deal. I look forward to seeing the progression of it! :nice:

BUTCHER??? Who are you calling a butcher????? I work at a salvage yard, 10 years and counting that my dad has owned for 17 years. This car would have been stripped, all parts would be sold, then the perfectly solid, NOTCHBACK body would be crushed!!! One more notch, GONE FOREVER, not destroyed like you think!!!!! My other notch, I have, same thing, it would have been sold for parts and crushed if it wasn't for me. 2.3L auto wrecked to 5.0L 5 speed conversion....98 % factory!!!!

I am the one keeping foxes alive!! When this car is done, that will be number 4 that I have restored and put back on the road!!! I have also restored 7 other Mustangs 94-95, 97 Cobra, and a 00 GT. All that would have been gone.

It's people like you that rain on Mustang enthusiasts parade!!:damnit:

79 5.0pace car....Did you see my before and after shots of my current notch?? Yeah, that was done is 14 days. Engine swap, motor and trans swap, fixing damage, body and paint and rebuilt trans!!! I am a work horse, and you should respect that.

Both the 2.3T and the 5.0 were available in the PC. The 2.3T came only with a five-speed manual and the 5.0 could have either a four-speed manal or a three-speed auto.

The 2.3T was available in various forms from '79 through '86. The most notable are the SVOs and Turbo GTs.

The point of the whole argument is that it is getting so difficult to find a decent 4-eyed car these days, while the aero nose cars are a dime a dozen. Its great to see someone putting effort into resurrecting an old fox that would have been written off by anyone else, but it would just be nice to have it stay 4-eye to represent that generation of fox Mustangs which have become an endangered species.

That being said, I realize that 4-eyed bumper covers are harder to find than aero noses, and I can hold a bit more respect for a conversion if it is done because the previous nose was wrecked. When it comes to people who simply buy a 4-eye and decide that the aero nose looks better and convert a perfectly good car simply out of preference, that makes me ask why didnt you save yourself the work and save the car by simply buying an aero nose car to begin with? It's not like there is a shortage of them. Its also rare to find someone who does anything more than just swap out the bumper cover, leaving the car looking like a cobbled together mess.

Yeah Yeah I realize I am no one to say what someone should or shouldnt do with their car because it is in fact their car and their money, but I cant help but feel like they are disrespecting the hobby in some way by converting like that. Upgrade anything you want, but dont remove the cars identity by making it just another belly button of a mustang.

Let me tell you what, I GUARANTEE you that a clean, well done 4-eye will get 10x the looks of an aero nose car. Why? Because it is SO rare to see them, and the nice ones garner TONS of attention. Hell, I find myself slowing down and looking/staring even when a slightly beat 4-cyl 4-eye drives past, and aside from the Carlisle All-Ford Nationals, I can't remember the last time I saw a NICE 4-eye in person. It's a shame we keep losing them.

You like most people in this thread are on my side, but it wasn't an argument. It just got hijacked into one.

I posted my shots and idea and project on here to get a "Hey that's cool, or wow that will be a lot of work." Not for some fool to call me a butcher! I would like to see his work!!!! Prolly pays to have it done!!!!

We have had a few 4 eyes, and a few aero nose cars... I like the 4 eye better in some cases, aero in others. Listening to some people discuss this is amusing, they act like this guy is killing off an endangered species. Do what you please. What about the guy here who races his 4 eye car at circle track events. Thats a 4 eye that he enjoys but is basically being smashed into nothing.

By the way we had an 85 grey GT. The car needed a TON of work, we got it for parts and scrapped the rest. Are we going to hell now because of this, or if we sell the nose to someone will we be saved?
