ok so i am thinking about getting these wheels... http://mustangunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=7865K+01 yeah the eleanor style aka the 454 edlebrock i think it is right? or at least they are simmilar is my understanding. ok but i dont know if i would be gettting them throught mustangs unlimited because i have a friend who works at a customization shop and might be able to get me a deal on them so i am going to see what he can do for me first before i decide, but my question is......will these fit on a 66 coupe with stock style springs, no shelby drop...for now... i wouldnt be opposed to doing it in the future, and no rolled fenders... these wheels are 17 by 8 inch with a 4.25 inch back space...what do you guys think can it be done i saw on the dodgestang sight that only one of the entries fit a 17 by 7 inch wheel with a 4.25 inch backspacing all the others that where 17 by 8 inch like mine would be had a 4.75 inch backspacing on it...if i order them through my friend i migh be able to get a custom backspacing so let me know what you guys think

well as for mods the suspension is all stock as i can tell no Shelby drop, so you think those are the best recommendations or would i just be better off going smaller i like the style do you know where i can find the wheels other than mustang unlimited i am having trouble and as for tires i dont know im open to suggestions on that too it will be a every day driver

Wheels are too much a personal statement for me to make recommendations like that. 17s fit on the car just as easy as 14s. If you get the right fitting 17s you can usually put more rubber on the car than you can with a 16, 15, or 14 because you can run more backspacing in the front.

yeah i understand that it would be hard to recomend that and then you might get stuck with the blame from someone, im just curious because i am almost clueless about this subject on what will fit on there i have been using your guide as a guide and im just trying to figure it out but a 17 by 7 wit a 4.25 should hypothetically work without problems? i dont know whtere to begin tho haha as for the tires what do you tink if i got the 17 by 7 with 4.25

where i can find the wheels other than mustang unlimited

For Mustangs Unlimited to market a 17 x 8 with 4.25 backspacing as a good fit for a '65-'66 is fraudulent.

I have 17 x 8's on my '65 but they're 5.00 BS. The tires ar 235/40's. I had to use a 7/32" spacer on the front to clear the ball joint. The fender lips a are rolled. And I had to trim a 1.5" section of pinch weld in the passenger wheel house. But this combo fits just fine.

So look around for the Ultra's in 17 x 8 and a 4.75 or 5.00 BS, in 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern.

Do plan on some fender rolling.

In the same class as the Ultra 454 there's also the Coys C67:

the Vintage Wheel Works 60:

and the American Racing Cobra 427 (painted) and 427P (polished):

There are also the high dollar Cobra kit car Hallibrand style rims, from PS Engineering, Team III, Compomotive, and others.

So there are lots of options with that same look.

AWESOME thank you so much i will look into those some more and from what i have heard fender rolling is pretty easy. i will be doing my body work and painting later in a few months so cracking paint and such is not a huge deal now i will search tho on the prosses of rolling fenders before i get into that haha thanks again and i will let you know what i think

ok so i like hte american racing series 427 the painted one but the problem is the backspacing is only available up to 4.5 backspacing, but anyways i am just tyrying to figure out whats going to be availble to fit i could always move down to 15's but i kinda think the 17's would have a good look in that style and if id move down id probably go do a diff style any sugestions, i kinda want someitng with a 60's style feel but also looks awesome

Its better than $1600ea for these American Racing or over $700ea for the Foose or Billet Vintiques. Of the various Eleanor wheels PSE Wheel vintiques Halibrand Team III ETC ETC they are a fair price.
