Can't get my O2's out!

I'm trying to get the O2's out of my 90. They are rusted so bad it's like they are welded in.

I tried liquid wrench sitting on them over night. No luck. I then try to heat the O2 bung with a torch. The torch is just a small one used for copper pipe. I didn't get it red hot and still no luck.

Any ideas?

Either go to the hardware store and get a longer wrench or put a piece of pipe over the one you have and get some serious leverage on it.

If the H is off the car, flip it upside down and let PB run down the threads. Some will get in there and help.

Agreed PB blast and let it sit for a bit, then get a wrench on it (the hole side not the open end) lock another LARGE wrench on it. Brace yourself on the car or something that's not going to move and pull with everything you got.
Just don't hit yourself when it breaks loose..

Get a friend to help you out by pushing with you pulling if need be...

PB Blaster! If you can, find someone who has an o2 sensor wrench, those things are much better suited for removal than regular open face wrenches. If you feel real ambitious, take an old wrench and use a cutoff wheel to grind a slot in one of the angles to allow the o2 wires to slide through, that way the wrench will wrap around the sensor like a wrench would on a normal nut. That seems to help also.

New o2 sensors should have anti-seize on the threads, if not make sure you apply some so you don't run into this the next time.

Oh yea......good tip. I cut one of my wrenches a long time ago for R&R. I never even thought about the possibility that they would be thrown away and the wires could be cut.

That is why I always say to do it to an old wrench.

i had the same problem... so i took it to a muffler shop and they charged me 15 bucks to get them out... they heated it up untill it was glowing red and came right out...

i had mine seized in so bad i ripped the threads of the sensor. the sensor came out but the threads were sill in the bung. i just ran a chaser in a bit and jammed the new one it, its crooked but its in there and i left it, if i have any more problems i will weld a new bung in

just get the thing RED HOT and it try it then. you may have to run a tap through the bung again to clean up and make new threads. getting hte bung red hot may warp it and you wont be able to get anything to thread back in. just run a tap through it for to fix it. worst case, you breake the 02, and have to cut the old bungout and weld in a new one, they sell new bungs pretty cheap!

Try PB blaster again. Soak them every 30 minutes and let them sit for hours while occasionally banging on the side of the O2 nut.

PB blaster will break the rust free but it can only work on the rust it touches. All that rust acts as a dam to block the oil from getting to the lower threads.

Mine broke when I tried to get it out

I drilled it and chased the thread. Now that I swap it out once a year (veh insp) I never have a prob

Plus It's sooooo much easier to get at the nuts that hold the H pipe to the header with the O2 sensors out

i just put a big honkin wrench on it (the right size of course)and hit it with a hammer

Do some push ups, and PB Blaster. Man up boy! Hit it with a hammer to keep breaking it loose. Try putting the front end on jacks for more room.
