Joys of selling cars

Good luck with that project. I actually thought it looked pretty cool, but what a fricken pain in the ass. I think it's safe to say that I was the first to try it on a foxbody, I am sure now they have bolt on kits. Some people love it, alot of people hate it.

Nice car, don't let the lowballers discourage you. I was selling my 03 GT last year, asking $13,500 on Corral and someone actually approached me with a serious offer of $7500. Yes, a bit more than half of what I was asking. I actually had to tell him that if he offered that stupid amount to my face, I would likely punch him. I understand making an offer but an offer like that is an insult, not unlike the guy who offered $3k for your car. Long story short, just when I was really getting frustrated, a guy randomly e-mails me saying he wants the car. I call him and the next day he is test driving it and telling me he wants it. That weekend he came up with a cashier's check for $12,500 and we struck a deal. I wish I was able to get a little more for the car but I was satisfied.

Point is, your car is sharp and looks well done. Sit tight and someone will come along. I wouldnt take less than $6k for it, maybe hit $5500 if you become desperate to sell. Other than that, you should be able to get close to the money you want for it. Good luck.

your car looks like it is in exellent shape and has a kick a$$ theme!!! I would be asking more then $6000 for it to be honest.... it matters alot on where you live and time of the year that you are selling the car too. The trick is on these cars and most other modded cars from the 80's and 90's is that you kinda have to wait for the right person who has a itch for that certain car....i would buy it all day long if i was in need it s a cool lookin 5.0!!

When dealing with Mustangs, most often you are going to get a lot of younger people.

I'm trying to sell my 2003 GT. I got a lot of calls from kids. What's the lowest you will go is all i hear? Honestly, why bother looking at a $13K car if all you have is $7K to spend?? I'm not going to take a loss because you need to go to college. I went to college myself and nobody knocked 6000 off a car just for the hell of it.

Then i hate tire kickers. "Can i take it for a spin?"

"Nope, i'll take you for a ride, show you how it goes and stuff. You can look at it all you want. We will discuss a number, you give me a deposit on that number and then i will let you take it for a spin and give you the option of backing out if you don't like it."

Yeah i sound like a jerk, but i'm not going to let some kid drive my car around when he can't afford to even give me a decent offer. Why don't i just put a sign on it that says "Free rides here"

I'm thinking of just putting it back to stock and trading it in. Less money, but no hassle.

BTW, $6800 is a damn fair price for your car. I might try to haggle you down to $6000-6500, but no way would i lowball you with some of the offers you have gotten

I hear ya, I'm trying to sell my L. Asking 15,500 obo. I have had offers of 10,000 because..."Well that is all the money I have...and I have cash!!"

I don't give a F******** It is the cheapest on Auto Trader right now. Thanks for wasting 1 hour of my time, and driving MY truck!!!!!!! I had to vent too!!! Thanks!!!

SVT, sometimes you never know what kind of deal the seller may want to swing when cash is in hand. Not to argue there aren't idiots out there looking for a steal, but ya never know sometimes. I just picked up my G35 at a nice deal by flashing cash, although it probably helped that everyone else the guy dealt with was a moron.

That 68 is HOT!! If I ever did a classic, it'd be of that nature.

You are right. Cash does talk, but i still need enough of it to make me sell my car.

WHen i bought my 5.0 back in 1998, they wanted $6800 for it. It had 53K miles on it. It was a big chevy dealership so they had a lot of kids with bad credit try to finance it. I walked in (with my dad of course, i was only 16 at the time) and we offered $4000 cash. A low ball yes, but it was a dealer, not a private sale. After some haggling, we upped to $4500 cash. They said no, we got up and walked away. They called us back and said "Ok, if you have $4500 cash, it's yours" and that's how i got my 5.0.

But when it comes to private sales, the bottom dollar price is often closer to the asking price than a dealership.

When i go shopping for my next car (G35) at a dealership. I'm going to low-ball the hell out of them :). There are tons of those cars around so why spend more when you can cast the line and see what bites. Those guys are getting paid to be there and sell you the car. With private sales, i don't want to waste anyone's time. I might try to get the car for less, but i go there prepared to at least pay what the person is asking (although you gotta try to knock somehting off)

beautiful car ,i love that lx wing more than the gt style but no matter how many times you see the saleen wings they are still the best looking wing ever made for our cars.not to sound like a jerk but when i do buy a part or car i do ask what 's the best they will take for the car and i go from there .i have the same thing asked of me and i don't take offense .you are trying to sell your car and sometimes it just requires patience to get what you want for it.you may have to wheel and deal to get rid of it ,.it may take you possibly taking some of the mods off and selling them separate and recouping some of your investment.good luck with the sale you should not have a problem selling it .

Is it just me or are the stripes green

or yellow?

Ironically, most Fox body Saleens never came with those stripes.

Only 3 special models did. The '89 SSC, the Saleen SC and the ultra-rare Saleen SA-10.

If those stripes are white and yellow, then they are '93 SA-10 stripes...and i beleive only 10 or 11 were made

LoL, whats going on in those pictures is the paint I used was...

House of Kolors Kameleon, Silver to Gold. So its gold straight on, and then changes to a greenish/blue to silver blue. It is really amazing in person. It goes for $200 a pint 2 years ago when I got it. Really hard to capture it in photo. But the stripes on the side and the top are same paint, just different angle.:nice:

Nice stang, i personally think it's worth your asking price to the right person.

I tried to recently sell my GTP when it was supercharged, it has a bunch of mod's plus a freshly installed nitrous kit. I got so many god damn lowball offer's i gave up trying to sell it. My asking price was 12k which was high i know but i do have quite a bit of cash in this thing and it doesn't look good for cheap ya know. But i woulda went like $9500. HA i get some bitch offering me 5k :rlaugh: :rlaugh:, then some dude offering me a trade for a damn 97-98 dodge pickup with alittle money..................... I finally said screw it after countless lowball offer's and decided to keep the car an threw a turbo on it :nice: .
