Here I go, first this morning while going to work I've notice that my ((ABS)) light turned on and that my traction control stay off (I cant put it back to on anymore)... Second problem, sometimes when I come to a stoplight my rpm drop ways too low (under 500) and the engine stall...I had notice since sometime that my motor was strumbling a little bit at idle, but I have no CEL! Anyways hope you can help me with these!!!

P.S.: I have washed my motor 2 days ago could it be the origin of my problem????

the washing of your motor could be the problem, but I doubt it. Try cleaning the IAC valve with some brake or carb cleaner and see if that helps.

the abs light is on probably because you need a new abs module. if you decide to replace the abs module, you're going to get raped at a shop. they'll easily charge $500+. i'd recommend finding one online for around $100 and doing the work yourself. just make sure you get the abs module for GTs with traction control. your traction control will be off while the abs light is on.

What leads you to believe that he needs a ABS module??? very rarely have I seen abs modules go. Most of the ones that do go are on windstars. 9-10 ABS problems are sensor or wiring related.

there are thousands of other things that can cause the ABS light to be on and the traction control to be inactive.

bad sensors, bad wiring, bad tone rings, blown fuses many many others too. He needs to bring it to a shop that has a real scan tool that can access the abs module. If he can get the codes then we can help him on here.

Sure it COULD be the abs module but we have no codes here and no pinpoint tests were performed on this car, so what you are suggesting is throwing parts at it.

If both of these problems started after you washed your engine, then yes, the wash was the origin of the problems.

if you go to autozone, they'll pull the codes for free; some repair shops will do free diagnostics as well. get some codes and post them up.

svttech76: abs module came to mind since he said he washed his car the other day. my understanding with the Ford abs light was that if it comes on and stays on during start-up, its usually a hardware failure, not loss of signal from a sensor. if the light comes on after start-up, its likely a sensor.

My ABS light comes on when my drivers side rear wheel speed sensor gets loose. I remmeber looking at it now long after I bought it and noticed it didnt have a bolt holding the sensor on like the others.
Apparently Ford forgot it  . But it only happens every once in a great while and I just pop it back in fully.
So I would suggest checking all 4 wheel sensors first....easy fix if thats the issue.

Error Code is C1165 (Rear Right Speed Sensor Open circuit), the sensor is already ordered!!!! Thank god its not the control module!!! Now I have to fix my idle bug!!!

And how much is that gonna run you? Did you try to reset the ecu by unplugging the battery? I bet that would fix it. Also replacing the abs fuse would be the first step if you were having problems with that.

I have the same problem, ABS light on and traction control wont work. took it to the dealership only to find the problem. they said it was the module, any where from $400-800 inc labor to fix depending on the part # which they wont know till they take it off....HA!
im looking for one on ebay but all are w/o traction controll, module masters will rebuild it for $200 i just have to take it off to send it to them or try and find a indipendent shop to take ot off for a fair price?

before i do i will stop by auto zone for a second opinion though....maybe its just the wheel sensor ;)
