I need to replace my whole fuel pump assembly including the sending unit, but I was wondering what they changed in 98. All I see are pumps for 96-97, but nothing for 98. Do I have any choice but to order the parts from the Ford dealership?

are you keeping it stock? the 98 cobra setup is the worst ever and gave me alot of problems when supercharging. its the last year of the return style setup but they used a 99 up basket set up. if you need a stock replacement, go with the exact ford replacement. if your upgrading, the basket will need to be modified no matter what pump you use. i have a a bbk 96-98 cobra 255lph fuel pump for sale that is used for about 2 weeks. its actually made by walbro but bbk sells it as their own. it worked but the basket needed to be modified.

I think I'm going to go with the stocker for now. I'm annoyed at the fact that my car loses pressure when it's off and that I have to cycle the ignition so many times. Not to mention, I figure it's no good for the engine to be turning over and not getting gas.

to be perfectly honest with you, i don't know how hard it is. i didn't do the work so i couoldn't answer that question, but i believe its minor modifications and not very difficult. the pump i have was in my car and working, but the second place i took my car too recomennded a high output pump because of my application so they put one in.

Don't buy one from summit Racing. I bought one there and my car was running lean at 4600 Rpm's on the dyno with a t-rex inline. Paul at php dropped one of his flow tested pumps in and no more fuel problems. You might get a good one but there is a chance of getting a POS.
