I am so pist right now. So when I got my cobra wheels I put my old ones in the classified section for sale. Well someone e-mailed me who was supposedly named "April Johnson, email address [email protected] And said they would buy them, offered me 300 and said she lived in england. So I was like as long as she covered shipping w/e. Well she said she would send me a total of 3800 to cover shipping and what I wanted for the rims. This is where i thought it was fishy... But w/e i received the money orders and against what everyone else told me to do I kept my end of the bargain and cashed the money orders and made it a point to tell the teller to check if they where real. She said they checked out so i sent the money moneygram to someone who she said was the shipping company coming to pick up the rims, and now a week later I look into my account and they took out 950 which was one of the money orders and I called and they said it was a counterfeit..... Now as soom of you may remember I am a full time student and full time worker so I dont have much money and the little I had in my savings, they yanked right out..... Now I have no idea what to do except call some fraud ppl and try and get my money back, though I doubt I will....... You know you try and be someone to trust and you get screwed over. Had I just been an ass and said now i want nothing to do with someone overseas or deal with the money I would not be in this situation.... Dont accept any offers from anyone with that name or e-mail!!!

Well guero I went to my bank to verify if they where real and cashed them from my account. and deposited the 300 from what was supposed to be from my rims and sent the rest out money gram to the supposed shipping company. I figured since she was from england supposedly that it was hard to get originals there.

and hissin I will PM timeless2 to see what he can do to help others out because what little money i had saved in case of emergency is now gone. My rent is due today and i have no idea what the hell I am going to do with myself...

Ok well I just sent a PM to timeless2 hopefully he can help keep this from happening to any of you guys... But tomorrow I will be going to the bank and raising hell because that lady assured me they where ok. If I cant get my money back God willing I can at least keep them from taking anything else. I took out what I had left in my account, and well I can tell you guys I have exactly 361 dollars in cash and some change to my name. On a brighter note, I finally got my timing right today, Had to set it to 9* to keep from pinging. Guess the msd cap, rotor, and coil with everything else stock dont like 10* But it was set at like 18* which is why I had that horrid pinging at WOT and it idled like it had a cam, lol *if you are wondering why I am still talking about my car even though I am miserably right now, its because its the little things like my car and especially my g/f that keep me going*

Never ship through someone you dont know. This is an old, old scam. Always ship them yourself through Fedex, UPS, or DHL.

Last week I got an email from someone who I could tell was not American but sounded interested in the wheels. I told her to let me know her zipcode and I would figure out what shipping would be so I could come up with a final dollar amount. Then last night I got this email from her:

Am really sorry for the late response been out of office....I really appreciate your response in regard of making this transaction a seccesfull one.....i will like us to carry on with this deal with trust and understanding cos i'm in the England and would like to buy and ship it over here... Am okay with the price ($600) present condition as well as the look on the picture... I'll be offering you ($100) for it and that makes a total of of ($700)..I would really appreciate it if you can get back to me with your full details so i could order my secretary to send out a payment check for the amount of ($4750) which will be covering the shipping cost because the shipping firm will be picking it up alongside with some other goods that are to be shipped for me in the state.

i had my 351c engine and my aode tranny on the classified section and got an email very similar to that. i thought it was ok until he told me he was in denmark and that he would send me 7000 dollars and i could keep the rest. after that i thought it was a scam and didnt ever return the email to the guy and he never emailed me back. he wanted what i thought was too much of my information. thats when i knew. that sucks that it happend to you though

everytime I post an add I get that crap. You can always tell by the crappy wording and bad grammar.

Unfortunately, unless the bank can refund you because they assured you it was real....I highly doubt you'll see that money again.

even if they dont refund me what they took I would be fine if they just didnt take anything else out for the other 3 money orders which I am sure are most likely counterfeit also

First of all, very sorry for your plight. Here's what would have stopped me... Why would YOU have to send the money to the shipping company? Why can't SHE do that directly. I would say unless she handles shipping completely, F O R G E T it.

I also have to ask, who in their right mind would pay $4100 for $300 rims??

Actually 3800, but I know what you mean, I really should have seen this coming and I sort of did, and I asked the teller to make sure cuz i didnt think they where. I really should have seen this coming but I guess my problem is and has always been I always want to hope for the best out of people, but once again, but for the last time, I am let down.

What POSSIBLE reason would there be for any legitimate person to send you $3800 for a set of $300 rims???

"Just send me back the difference?" ??? Are you nuts? Have you ever sent Summit Racing or anyone else an extra $3500 for a part that you ordered?

I apologize for the rant and it sucks that you lost money but man... How gullible do you need to be to get hacked up by such a weak ploy?

the local news station did a story on this type of thing a while back... Sorry to hear you weere burned but what they advised is that should this happen deposit the money orders and wait until the bank calls you to tell you that they are legit. This can take 2 weeks or more sometimes. then if it pans out move forward.

I have heard where less extreme cases like this have actually been true (same scenario but $250 in shipping to a specific company rather than 3800)...

Good luck man. Talk to the bank president, dress nice and be very polite with all your facts and they may be able to help you out a bit more...
