Knob Noster, Mo.
We ended up taking Toonces (our super shy/timid kitty) back to the rescue group because she just wasn't doing well with our other cats (good news is her former foster mom is fostering her again and her other foster right now is a super mellow 15 year old so hopefully they'll get along okay).

Anyway, that brought us back down to 4 cats, but I plan on moving & getting my own place (hopefully) sometime early next year and when I do, I'm taking Romeo with me. I'm worried about him going from having my mom home all day and 3 other cats to play with to being home all by himself while I'm at work so I was wanting to get him a little friend, but dad said "no more cats".

Then this morning Mom & I were leaving Walmart and saw some people giving away kittens. I reminded her that dad said no, and she says "but look at the little spotted one!" So her being the bad influence that she is, we went & looked and fell in love with the little white calico kitten, and took her home hoping my dad wouldn't be furious.

I think he's a little upset that we made the decision w/o him, but he didn't tell us to take her back (we'd gotten the lady's phone number just in case). So now I have little Dot (who, btw, isn't named that because she has spots, she just looks like a Dot). They said she's 11 weeks old, but there's no way. I'm guessing more like 7. She has a minor eye infection, probably worms, and I found & killed 2 fleas (only ones I saw), but otherwise looks pretty good for being a barn kitten. She is being isolated, though, until we can get her to the vet for a good looking over on Friday.

Her spots (and I love the white tips on her ears).

And Emily, Ghost, Romeo, & Rusty are all doing well.

we recently lost one fo our best ones :( he was a 6 yr old black male, we called him " bar cat" cause he was always getting into brawls, his face was full of scars and his left ear was folded over. he darted under a car and that was it.... he will always be remembered

seemes like all of the smart cats keep crawling into tractor radiators and getting run over :( more proof that cats are dumb!, but we jsut recently got a new yeallow lab! she's 7 weeks old and her name is meg!

Still only two cats here; nothing has changed since Patches' ("Tink's cat") kidneys failed last summer. I do miss her; she was the one that would deliberately come and "visit" me, as well as keep the mockingbird and squirrel populations down. Our neighborhood is also becoming innundated with strays and feral cats; Patches would at least keep them off our property; 'cause she hated cats! And wasn't too fond of dogs except her own dogs. The present "tough cat" (Jessie's cat Midnight) acts like she's big and mean and tough and pretends to chase the other cats off..... inreality, when they start to get the best of her she runs into the back yard in the hopes that there are some dogs back there that might want to play "chase the strange kitty". EDIT: Almost forgot to mention "Kura", Matt's cat; which we inherited when NoKitten went off to boot camp. She's very shy; but playful. Has the teensiest tiniest "mew" of any cat; and will play with somebody she knows; when she feels like it. Otherwise she hides under Matt's bed 'til he goes to sleep; then spends the night attacking his toes under the covers.

We HAVE increased to four dogs though. Since March, one of Tink's Louisiana rescue puppies has returned to the family. Bocephus (pronouced "Bow-SEE-phus" although I call him "Bossy-fuss") is an 8-mo-old Queensland Heeler/Rottweiler (?!?) mix that had gone to a local Marine family. They weren't up to training a puppy; so they gave him back to us. Now Jessie has a puppy as well as a cat. Cat hates the puppy; puppy thinks the cat is a great play-toy. We still have my Chow-mix (Polly, now 13+ y.o.) and Sue's Lab/Greyhound/??? cross (Luna; 8+ y.o.) and Tink's Queensland Heeler (Latigo, now 3. Or 4. I forget  ); although Latigo will be moving in with Tink shortly after she transfers to Ft Bragg. (I'm not sure SVTCobra306 knows that he's about to inherit a dog! :p )

Still two goats in the back yard; and three horses out at the stables. I think only the horses have been posted here on StangNet; have to get busy with the camera before Latigo moves to N.C.

Chelle, your parents have been together how long, and your dad still hasn't learned he can't say "no" to your mother?:nonono:

LOL. Actually she doesn't make too many major decisions w/o him, but we just really didn't want anyone else to take her. Even though he might not be too happy now, once she's a little bigger and we can let her out of my room, and he can play with her, I think he'll be okay.

Just got back from the vet and she doesn't have ear mites or worms and her eye infection is actually looking better today, but he gave her some ointment anyway and she got her first set of shots. When we told him the people said she was 11 weeks and he just laughed. He said she's closer to 6 weeks.

And I've decided she has some siamese in her. She has a really long body and long legs and around the spots on her face, it's actually cream that fades out to white kind of like a siamese. And one of the other kittens they were giving away (from a different litter - but they have 11 outdoor cats on their land) had siamese markings so I'm thinking maybe the dad was a siamese. But she also has ear tufts and a relatively long tail for a kitten (usually, they're short, stubby little tails) so I'm thinking some maine coon mixed in as well.

And I just called her name and she came running from across the room so she knows it already.

"Let's see . . . how do I get up this thing?"

"C'mon claws, do your thing!"

"Phew! Gotta take a breather"

"Okay, gotta keep going."

"Boy! It's a long way down!"

"Almost there!"

"Yay! I made it . . . Hey! Who are you?"

"How'd you get up there so fast?"

"Show off!"
