Just want a consensus on what every ones cars here weigh in at, especially the 94-95's. According to the SVT Mustang Cobra recognition guide the 94 Cobra weighs in at 3,365 but I also have the 351 R motor and the 95 R weighed in at 3,326 but it had no sound deadening material or back seat.

My car at the track a few wks ago weighed in at 3,500 with me out of it. I'm lost on where all my extra weight is coming from. I was thinking the 351 may be adding some weight but what do you guys think? I have a Kenny Brown Street cage so I know that's some added weight but I also have the smog removed and AFR aluminum heads.

Is it possible that the 94 cobra with a 95 R motor and transmission along with the street cage is adding an extra 174 pounds despite the smog removal and AFR heads? My spare tire and jack are removed as well. With me in the car it tipped the scales at 3,692 so needless to say my car is porky when running at the track. I have not had it weighed on different scales in order to compare different readings either. Id really like to cut some weight off this thing to help get my ET down. Less weight = free HP :nice:

Your cars weight sounds about right to me. The 95 cobra R had no AC, radio delete, manual windowsand door locks, V6 seats,no back seat, no sound deadening, and a aftermarket fuel cell. Your car has heavier wheels a roll cage and all accesories. The aluminum heads are only saving you about 35lbs and most aftermarket bolt on fiberglass hoods don't save any weight.

mine wieghed in at 3300. without me and 1/4 tank of gas. alum heads no smog equip, fiberglass hood, no spare, no jack, no floor mats....But hey at least your lighter than a 350Z

3200 with driver...NICE.

I think the avg. is like 3400 or something. There is alot of little stuff you can do to dump weight.

loose the dog bone if aftermarket gears are used.

jack/spare and truck ins. removed.

back seat (and metal frame for back section) and a rear seat delete.

99+ front brake caliper swap.

loose the A/C (that is really damn heavy)

welds....not so cheap but knock off a good bit of weight were it helps ALOT...rotating mass.

another reason to keep a t5 based trans.

for a under 500 you could get a tube K and 03 cobra lower control arms and loose 50lbs or so too.
