GT front Brakes on a V6

Jennifer you sound like a wonderful lady, but aren’t we getting a tad politically correct here? This is an Internet car forum for heaven’s sake. I may not agree with what Bat24 has to say, but I certainly defend his right to make a public ass of himself whenever he so chooses.

Personally, I don’t think touchy-feely posts have any place on a car forum. I am less offended by some guy ranting about how hot his ride is (or yours is not) than I am by another dissertation on how we should get in touch with our feelings.

There are people in this world that actually do like hard liquor, hot rides, red meat, etc... They read a forum like this for tech info, and they are not interested in personal growth, emotional development or anything personal about anybody.

it takes a big person to resond the way you did. rather than just take the easy way out and get pissed. i myself hope you understand that we all are a part of a family and we all have good and some bad ideas but thats why we have theese forums. there are no stupid questions just stupid mistakes! so that is why we ask questions. and hopefully someone can answer them. i am soory about my knee jerk response and as jen points out 13 posts is irelevent! i myself always try to help any time i can v8 or v6. i just get tired of the v6 bashing. and get really tired of defending my choice. i love my car and have fun modding itwith my boys. so if you want to hang around go for it! dont stay in the backround jump in and meet some new friends.
Tom

PS. my spelling sucks, but hey i think you get the point!

you obviosly didnt notice me say i was sorry. old news

Non-ABS V6 cars do have a prop valve. The base brake balance is close enough to neutral, and the critical point is at .85g that you don't really need to worry about proportioning with the gt brakes. If you add the larger gt rotorsthe bias will be shifted slightly toward the front so your balance shouldn't be a problem. On the other hand the gt brakes are really not going to make that much of difference to the v6. Replacing the tires will have more of an impact on braking.

If you really want to improve braking, you need really sticky tires, and some aftermarket brakes, with bigger calipers and rotors. Be careful how big you go because you may need bigger wheels to clear the brakes.

Just wondering if anyone can answer for me...
I have a V6 Vert with no ABS. I was also thinking of going to the GT front rotors and offset. I already upgraded my wheels and tires to something I'm really happy with and would like to improve the braking of the car. Would going to the larger GT rotor actually help, or would I need to upgrade to a bigger caliper as well? Is there a real advantage to the larger rotor with the same caliper? I know a full brake upgrade is going to do more for me, but if I can get better braking out of a $200 upgrade for take offs and some better pads, I'd rather go that route than pay a couple thousand for a full blown brake system upgrade.

My wheels are 18" so I'm not worried about clearance of the GT rotor.
Any feedback is appreciated.

The set comes with the calipers but now I’m a bit confused. I thought previously it was said that the calipers for the GT and the V6 were the same and only the offset was different. Can anyone provide clarification for me? Is there conflicting information in this thread or am I just confused as usual?

Maybe I'm the one who's confused, but I'm pretty sure that the GT mount higher to clear the larger diameter rotors.

Same caliper... The GT uses a modified mounting bracket. The brackets from Ford cost almost as much as the takeoff package.
Before buying a takeoff package make sure you confirm that the brackets come with the package.
