I have a C-4 tranny, with a 2500 rpm stall. I want this car to bark 2nd gear but only when I want it too, its a street car and cant be doing that all the time.

Looks like B & M has several stages available in shift kits, any advice as to what would be appropriate for this application?

Street strip it is. You were right on the linkage too, I have to carry the old tranny up to this guy Monday so he can take the linkage out of it and put it in the new one. I should have just taken it up there the first time....oops again.

You seem to be very knowledgeable about this stuff, what do you think of my 2500 rpm stall? Cam specs are 488 lift, 288 duration, and LSA of 108. Those numbers are close if not right on.

If you have a 289, I doubt an advertised 2500 will truly go 2500. They are usually about 200-300 rpm's lower when behind a 289 or 302. I think a 2800 or even 3000 will get you where you need to be. The 2500 would be ok, but I would be suprised if it goes 2500. If you want a true 2500, you have to get a different TC. Have you driven the car yet with that cam? If so, at what rpm does it come to life?

trans-go is another transmission company that also makes some really good trans parts and kits. B&M and trans-go both have excellent shift kits, and either one would be a good choice. the street/strip version is the best all around kit to use. as for the converter, 2500 rpm stall speed is just about right. brian makes an excellent recommendation for a car that is more strip than street, but an excellent recommendation none the less. for more street that strip, and for the cam you selected, you dont need much more than stock to see a big improvement though.
