Well it has been a while since I posted some stuff up. About 3 or 4 weekends ago I got together with my Dad and brother and we put in the 308 coupled to the 5 speed. It all went in super easy and we had the gig done in a couple of hours. Now I am turning my attention towards getting the exterior 100% complete. We still need to respray a door/fender after an alignment gone bad. I need to get my grill assembly ready and finally we need to get headlights/turn signals in.

As you can tell from the photos, I fiberglassed in the front valence where the original turn signals/parking lights were and the rear backup lights.

Well I found these on eBay:

You can see them installed here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-Ford-Mustang-Supercharged_W0QQitemZ220139742044

These are 5 3/4" tri-bar headlamps that have a built in turn signal. Originally I was going to use 99-04 GT Foglights behind the grill as my turn signals because the curve of the GT Fog lights almost matched the curve of the inner grill curve.

Has anyone purchased these or used these? Are they ok in quality? I love the price, 2 for $50 and shipping.

Also, are the original 1966 Mustang housings 5 and 3/4" or do I need the 7 inchers?

Feel free to comment on the car as well, like/dislike...its definitely different though.
It still needs to have its paint buffed out and the interior...well it's trash right now. I really need to get to work on the inside...

Thank you for your time.

The car is looking great! I am going the restomod route on my '67

I like where your head is at with the turn signal shave...

I think I am going to go with these... You can find them on ebay on occassion (none right now) or Mustang Depot, kinda spendy though...

They look good on Ring Bros Kona car... Expect their's aren't tri-bars...

Rock on :nice:

Whew

Whew those ARE pricey. But they do look incredible on his car.

I unfortunately have to stick to a budget and if I had to choose $25/ea for some lower grade ones vs. $100/ea for really nice one, the cheapskate in me goes for the $25/ea

What I could maybe do is get an extra pair, find a really big amber turn signal and cut it to fit. But right now I just want a pair that will get me on the road legally.

I want to see photos of your 67 man, if you like where my head is at, I certainly want to see where your's is at.

Thanks for the info too, good stuff.

Also, here are the ones you were talking about, not a bad price on eBay:

Good Lord, I searched for 15 minutes for those stinkin things, couldn't find them.. Used all the words they have in the title too... Weird... Thanks though!

As far as my car goes I just have lots of ideas now... The only restomod stuff I have actually done/bought are a Cobra Automotive R-model front end that will be modified, smoothed all emblem holes and radio antenna, '69 CJ hood scoop with "ram air airfilter mod", tri-bar "angel eye" headlights, 17" Hopsters, a DSS 331 long block on the way, and a 9" rear, disc fronts...

What I plan on doing: custom dash and interior (kinda like the Ring Bros car's), smooth or modify turn signals & backup lights, smooth cowl vents, racing seats, '66 black chrome mirrors & door handles, smooth tail lights (get rid of chrome bezels so they are flush), side exit nascar exhaust, black out window trim, the list goes on... The purist won't care much for my car when it's done... But I will dig it, that's all that matters...

Seeing your bumper painted to match helped me make a decision in that department, thanks!

Not a problem.

You and I think alot alike. I smoothed all my emblem holes, I have the Restomod 6 piece body kit from Mustangs Plus (had to let them rape me at least once) and I blacked out both my front and rear window trim by powdercoating it flat black. I highly recommend this as the chrome kills the modern look of a restomod.

Also I recommend you get a powerful rad. fan in there if you are going to seal up your cowl vents, they really help keep the engine bay area cool...but it looks killer when its done.

Good luck.

Funny, I was going to ask you about that... How is it working with the powedcoat on the thin trim pieces when putting the trim back on? If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost to get the pieces coated? You going to do the side windows too?

I used Paul's Powdercoating here in Mesquite, Tx. He sandblasted the old chrome off and then powdercoated every piece. He said it was no big deal so apparently it is pretty easy to powercoat. Getting the pieces back on was no big deal either. The paint is VERY tough, obviously it will gouge and scratch if you beat on it enough, but it can take the brunt of re-installation.

And I am not doing my side windows because the wheels, doorhandles and side windows all compliment each other and for the time being will remain.

...now when i get my 17x8 black rims....

All trim pieces were $40.00 total. So its a very cheap and very nice mod to do.

I paid around $40 to have all my trim pieces powder coated on my fastback, and I didnt have any problems at all when reinstalling the pieces- and he is right- it looks great as well on a restomod-

How do the cowl vents aid in cooling the engine???they supply fresh air to the interior:shrug:

The same way having a 10mm fan at the front of your computer case and having a fan at the back of your computer case works.

It keeps the air flowing. You seal up your cowl and it can't escape through the vents and could run hotter...

Least thats I what I envision...your trapping heat...

Maybe I dont get it.Are you refering to the vents in the wiper cowl.... that is sealed from the engine compartment????Your vent's look open in the pictures.

you mean where these vents were???

As iskwezm mentioned, I thought the cowl was, for the most part, sealed from the engine compartment? If it wasn't, I would sure get tired of that "hot fresh air" coming off the motor in my interior. Are we on the same page?

I have seen some Mustangs with cut cowls (opening into the engine compartment), which is suppose to allow air from the engine compartment another place to escape.

Sorry, I must've gone completely crazy overnight.

For some odd and very stupid reason I thought the heat escaped through those cowl vents...my mistake. I had to run outside and lift my hood to double check.

I take back what I said, seal those puppies up, it looks mean!!

Nice car iskwezm by the way, I love the color you put on that beast.

where did you get them done???I might need some stuff done.

I will get the name of the place from the guy who works on my car- I found a guy in La Habra who will do all the little stuff for me very cheap- owns a Detailing business and wants to get into restoring Mustangs for a living- he does some great fabrication work-

He does work cheap right now because he is trying to get off the ground- and it works out great for me because of my lack of time Ive turned into a "wallet mechanic"

Ill ask him for the name of the place-
