I am running the AGR rack and don't really like it. Sent it back because it was assembled incorrectly, the rack did not match the pinion due to parts in the wrong box when pulled to assemble unit but any kind of quality control would of cought this problem. The gears would bind and then pop over each other. Would have been dangerious if I'd try to drive it!! After warranty repair now the wheels rub the a frame on full lock turns. This is not a tire rub on the fender issue actually the rim on the a frame. This did not happen with the stock rack and same wheel and tire combo. Allignment is correct. Maybe with aftermarket a frames it would clear? Or 1/4 wheel spacers? The ratio should not effect the turn radius given that the rack should still have the same travel. Good luck, I would go back with stock if I were doing it over again or call and discuss with Flaming River as they seem to be well respected and used by the top racers.

An '87 5.0 should use the 2.5 turn 'sport' steering.

I don't think there is much you can do about the turning radius. Narrower wheels & tires and/or aftermarket a-arms may make some additional room for the wheels to turn, but at some point you're going to reach the physical limit of how far the steering rack itself will make the wheels turn.

You want the 2.5 turns. The 3.0 is the 4-banger rack. I have a 3.0 in my car and it sucks. Sure it's easy as hell to turn the wheel but there is no feel at all.

Look into an SN95 rack retrofit. They feel MUCH better. I love the way my SN95 feels.

Also, racks won't help with turn radius. That's just poor suspension design limiting it physically. The SN95's aren't much better
