Problems after Intake install.

I just finished installing a Edelbrock RPM intake and now that I've started it I've noticed a Check Engine Light [CEL] and a rough idle then it stalls out. I also notice it having a loud whine or whistle after I rev the engine.

Any ideas? I did forget where I left the timing, but I guess that'd cause pinging if it was wrong..Not this rough crappy idle.

I already checked for vacuum leaks and solved all them... So I think.

Suggestions/ideas?

As mentioned above you have a vacuum leak, and from the way you describe it I would bet it is a big one. Do you have the unused vacuum ports plugged off on the upper intake?

yep....i had to remove the whole intake cuz after i started it i noticed that it was there and I dropped a plug down the ****er... So I had to remove the whole intake to get that plug out.

...Trust me, that thing is plugged now.

100 percent positive a vac leak. My friend installed my upper intake on my 2.3 and didn't tighten it down enough and it sounded like a supercharger (when it was turbo'd) Don't give up, figure it out man - its not that tough.

I prefer water from a spray bottle to locate vacuum leaks on a warm engine. Carb cleaner's flammable and I wouldn't like to risk having a fire under the hood.
Like the others, I can guarantee you have a vacuum leak somewhere and it's most likely to be from any of the intake gaskets (lower intake to head, upper to lower intake, or TB to upper intake).
The rough idle is caused by air getting into the engine through an intake leak. Since this extra air isn't sensed by the MAF sensor, the computer doesn't add extra fuel so the engine runs lean and stalls.
