next upgrade I am cheap

Here is the deal 88 Gt vert 5 speed converted to mass air BBk underdrive pulleys BBk cold air intake I am wondering what my next mod should be? I am cheap and want the biggest bang for the buck I would love some of you guys suggestions, thanks

Install a set of frame rails before your flexible flyer starts to crack the floor under your ass with more HP. You can get bolt in if you can't afford welding at the moment. They are cheap. The car will actually corner then - which is like adding a ****load of HP not having to use the brakes at every turn.

Like mentioned pounds per HP is the fasted car in a straight line.

The biggest bang for the buck will probably always be nitrous.

thanks

Thanks for all the great ideas, as noted I am not broke, just cheap and don't want to waster money on mods that are not very effective I was thinking gears and new 2.5 h pipe this winter with heads and cam to follow any leads on where to find a good catless h pipe?

look at the adds in any of the mustang mags. The selection is almost unlimited along with pricing from top to bottom. You usually get what you pay for but the cheaper ones seem to be good such as UPR, I got the X pipe and like it but some don't like the sound as well as an H pipe. Your choice.

right on brother, I'm right there with ya. I hate when I drop a grand and can't tell the difference, of find out there was a better way to spend it.
Personaly, I've never noticed a great gain from exhaust mods without other supporting mods. Just an exhaust on an otherwise stock motor never feels like much, especially on a street driven vehicle. Sounds cool though!

Having said that, your on right track with gears. I feel almost any rig greatly benifits from gears, as long as you can handle the trade off (lower mpg, higher rpm @ speed, excessive tire smoking and acceleration). Your gonna have a huge grin every time you drive :nice:

subframes

I know they don't sound like much of a fun or noticable mod, but trust me you will be very happy with the way your car handles/drives.

They get rid of lots of the rattles, make the car more predictable, take away some of that driving a boat feeling when you crank the wheel back and forth. You will probably notice more of a "push you back in your seat" sensation during hard 1-2 shifting too because more of that power is going to the ground.

In my opinion on a vert, they are not an option. YOU NEED SUBFRAMES.

Maximum Motorsports full-length are my choice but as long as you get a good name brand full length connector you should be fine.

You will not be disappointed.

me

I run an MGW that I took of my 99 Cobra when I sold it. Fantastic shifter. I had a Tri-Ax in my 99 GT and that was pretty good although louder than the MGW and not as soild.

Any of them will be a huge improvement over that limp stocker.

Whichever one you get be sure to use:

They quiet any shifter down so much and make the install so much easier because you don't have to use messy gasketmaker.

I have driven a car with a PRO 5 too, that wasn't bad, but I gotta say MGW makes the best.

Gears for under $100 from a junkyard (don't wince, they're easy to install and if they whine a little you'll get to experience the performance and economy to see if you want to keep them (I went from 3.08's to 3.27's to 3.55's and kept the 3.55's.) If you are close to a decent city look on craiglist.org or the local trader papers for deals (just because someone else spent a lot of money doesn't mean you have to). Try to avoid shorties and go with a set of BBK longtubes (seat of the pants difference is unreal around 2500rpm). Subframe connectors are a must. Again shop around and try to get DOM 1x2x.125" steel, nothing thinner, they are junk.

probably the cheapest mod is to be patient and shop around the used parts stuff. Avoid eBay because there are too many idiots with money on there to get decent deals on shipable stuff.
