Hey guys even though my last question didnt work tell well I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I have the same SC off the new 05+ Saleens and hear a noise coming from on top of the SC itself. Its like a loud metal on metal rubbing noise that would basically sound like two knives being rubbed together blade to blade (best I can associate it with something). Is this normal?

that sounds like the screws for the blower rubbing some while its rotating. have you given the supercharger enough time/miles to properly break in ect? I'd call saleen and see what they say, but i've never heard that noise from my friends blowers on their saleens

Yeah I've had the blower on for about a year or so now. I contacted Saleen but they never got back to me. I'm kinda at a loss here. One of the techs at the dodge dealership I work at said it sounds like a bearing or something. Its a loud metallic noise.

I've had my car for about 11 months and I just heard a similar noise once about two weeks ago when it was pretty hot outside (80+ degrees) and the air temp guage got up to around 150 degrees (about 25 degrees higher than where it normally sits). When I parked the car, I turned off the engine and left the ingition in the on position so the intercooler could run for a while.

I haven't heard the noise since, but I'm keeping a close eye/ear on it now.

Sorry that's not much help. But I'll post if I get more info. Please do the same.

The Series VI is a noisy son of a bitc*.

It's also a pain to add oil since the plug is just to the right of the pulley down low. You have to almost take the belt off to get to it.

It should'nt bother you too much with the hood down, right?

Sounds normal to me. Saleen=FUBAR

I took it down to my local dealer and heres what they said. They told me they contacted Saleen and they said its the sound of a broken in supercharger and sounds normal. They then came back and said they checked a Saleen in the show room and it made the same noise. I highly doubt a show room car is "broken in" so they kind of contradicted themselves. I dont believe it. The guys at teamJDM said they've never heard it on their 100+ installs. And now that the Saleen hotline told them, or so they say, at the dealership I dont know where to go.

I have a feeling that you are describing a noise to JDM that is worse than is occuring with your car.

Believe it or not the Series VI is whisper quiet up until 300 miles or so and then turns in a grindy-R/C (radio control ) car sounds after the blower breaks in a bit.

With the hood closed it will be noticeable but shouldn't sound like it's broken. With the hood up it will be loud. That's the nature of this blower. Check to see the mileage on that S/C car on your dealers showroom floor. If the car has more than 50-100 miles on it already ( sometimes a car is shipped from Saleen with that kind of mileage ) it will make that noise also.

Trust me, I didn't like the sound of it either at first until I noticed that all of them make that sound.

Drive it like you stole it. If the blower fails you can send it back to Saleen.

I've never noticed a change in noise from the blower. Of course my car had over 100 miles on it too. Shipped that way or driven to cars and coffee each week for months? Who's to say...

The description of knives rubbing together sounds pretty bad and I can't say my blower sounds that way. Though my car isn't here for me to run out and check at the moment... my HEAT EXCHANGER is busted
