*Vids* In-Car 331 Supercharged

Here's about the best I can get with my current tune. Tried all I can with the FMU setup with not too much luck besides keeping it safe (A/F drops to 10.2 on the top end). Will eventually go with a PMS but just wanted to have some fun with it before the seasons over. Should pick up another 40rwhp tuned (mid 11's?)

My 60's were 1.75 and 1.71 launching @ 5k. I just got the "balls" to start launching at that rpm but glad I did because the car comes out of the hole so much smoother and stronger. Anything lower and it results in 1.8 60's and a bad bog. :) (Something along the lines of, all the time I put into the car and I hate beating on it.... :( But that's what I built it for right?)

I love the 3:55's on the street, but at the track, I wish I had a 3:73 or 3.90 gear to get me off the line a lot faster. I go through the traps around 5,300 rpms right now also so that is killing my top end pretty bad.

I got the 3:55's for free so maybe a step up to 3.90's would be a smart decision... Worse case scenario I throw on a 27" tire?

i run 3.90s and a 26" et street and i cross the traps at 6000-6100. i have been able to get 1.6s consistantly, best is 1.64.

give it soem RPM, rev it up high and as soon as the third yellow is coming on, floor the throttle and pop the clutch out as fast as possible. leave the line at 5500-6000

I want to get my torque boxes, axle tubes, and tranny crossmember welded up before any crazy launching but I can't wait to actually beat the hell out of the car! Hah.

I guess I'll know a little bit more when I get it tuned just to see what mph I stand at. I will make the guess on gears after this happens. I'm hoping to see around 117-118 mph once fully tuned! (knock on wood)

Looks like fun, also are you dumping or slipping the clutch? Sounds like it slips on the second run (only one I watched).

Also if you ever decide to there is some time left in abusing it more. Powershifting it will knock the times down a bunch, but if your not into that much abuse, just keep at it in cool weather with a tune.

hey man are you usin the clutch when you shift or are you power shiftin. i cant really tell. sounds really good though and nice runs other than the miss shift.

You HAVE to use the clutch when racing a synchroed tranny. Powershifting means never letting off the gas, and shifting it fast enough (with the clutch) where it doesnt bang off the limiter and make you look bad. :D

Anyone who tells you they arent using the clutch with a synchroed tranny when racing, is lying.

That looks like a lot of fun. I have a couple questions/suggestions? What clutch are you running. I agree with 25th that it definitely slipped a little bit on the second run. I think the heads are probably holding you back quite a bit. I think you need to work on you shifting a little bit...definitely on the 2-3 and 3-4 shift. But the 11's will come easily with a little practice and maybe a custom dynotune or Tweecer.

I think you're in for a big surprise when that car gets a tune. That combo should be WELL over 113mph. My buddy's 302 mild h/c/i Vortech car picked up about 200rwhp from a good tune. Your car should make 500 to the ground no problem with a good tune. I would expect over 120mph and low-mid 11s. Get the 60s in the 1.6s, and powershift it, or at least shift much faster. Hope everything holds together and you will be holding a 10 sec slip. :nice:

Edit: Oh, and hold off on the gears until the thing is tuned. Those 3.55s will probably be ok for the trap speeds you will be running. Unless you wanna be spinning 6500+ through the traps. You might be able to get away with 3.73s, but see what rpm it's trapping at with the 3.55s before changing anything.

04 sleeper, i LOVE your car man, im going to own one myself someday! everytime i see urs it makes me want one so much more lol

I concur! That color, tint, and style combo cobra is badass!!

Thanks guys. I know I don't get on this board as much any more but I still like to check in on things from time to time. This is where I started out and the FOX is what got me into Mustangs.

And keep up the Great Work Blk91stang! :nice:

You will pick up something from a tune BUT NOT no 200 rwph as quote from someone else. Unless its a diesel, Blackend88lx is SMOKING THE GOOD to say his buddy picked up 200rwhp from a tune. I smell BULL$hit

Alright. #s don't lie. Stock 302 short block, Windsor Sr., F-303, Performer. Vortech S-trim, about 12 psi. 255 in tank, 42 lb injectors. With the very conservative guesstimated chip they burned for break in it made about 280rwhp. After one tuning session it made 390rwhp running out of fuel at 5200rpm. After installing an anderson big pump in line in addition to the 255 in tank, and another tuning session it made 475rwhp. The tune was still rather conservative. Could have ran more boost and more timing, but had them hold off there with concern for the stock block. All tuning was done by Dez racing in Mass. He's a member on here. It's not even my car, I have no reason to lie, and do not like being called a liar. I'm not goin to say everyone that gets a tune will pick up 200rwhp, but a tune is very beneficial with a boost car.

Blackened88lx

When I got my 302 tuned with this combo, I picked up about 40rwhp on a conservative tune. Now this current combo is even more whacked out than it was with my 302 so I expect to see at least another 40rwhp when tuned. (My a/f looks like a water slide, starting at 12.8:1 and going to 10.2:1 at 6,000rpms)

04Sleeper

Thanks for the ****!!! :) I will own one in my near future because of you!!!!

I am using a Pro-Motion clutch setup. The clutch isn't slipping, the tires were as I didn't heat them up nearly enough (also running 24psi in them). The clutch is AWESOME and don't have 1 complaint on the street or the track. Takes a lickin and keeps on tickin! It consists of a blueprinted King Cobra Pressure Plate and McLeod 800 series disk.

I am using the clutch, just shifting semi quick. I've had a history of missing shifts so I'm not 100% confident about shifting quicker yet. It will all come with practice I hope! Just happy I can make it down the track netting some decent times!!

Thanks for the comments guys!!!!
