Problems with the Dizzy and MAF

I have been having problems with my car cutting out or miss firing. I ran a code reader and it gave me a pip fault so I replaced the dizzy with a reman. unit from NAPA. It worked for a day then it would not start, just cranked and cranked not spark at the coil. I had the coil and modual checked and they were fine. I then replaced the dizzy with another reman. unit and again it worked for a day the same thing no spark to the coil. Again I tryed another dizzy. It ran good for about 10 miles they started bucking and cutting out with the engine check light coming on.
I ran the car again to warm it up for the code checks and the engine check light did not come on this time. I ran a check for codes this time and I got a code 157 MAF low voltage. Everything else passed (except for a code 213 spout conn error I forgot to replace it when timing the car). So I checked the MAF with a meter and it did have a very weak voltage.
A new MAF is like $200

Am I on the right track with replacing the MAF.

FWIW, you should see about 1.0 MAF-signal volts at idle.

I'd ensure the wiring is good on terminals A-D and that the wires are clean.

If you do need a new meter, I'd grab a used one. All the stock meters on 94-95s (GT, V6, Cobra) are the same.

Good luck.

Thanks HISSIN50
It was under 1.0 so I did replace the MAF.
Now my car runs great:nice: All those little quirks with the idle, running lean, serging and pinnging are gone.
I have an open track day coming and I woun't worry about it cutting out at 140 MPH.:hail2:

how do i test my maf with a volt meter? Im having similiar problems, no codes going to get a new dizzy but mabye I should test my maf first.

Im getting hesitation and some backfiring sometimes out my my tail pipes on 1/2-3/4 throttle after shifting into 2nd (usually 2nd).

Car seems to be lacking low end power.

thanks

Matt, if you have a Haynes manual, it tells you what to look for amongst the 4 wires. I dont have the stuff memorized or I'd post it up.

With an intermittant/conditional issue, I'm not sure I'd assume it's the MAF. Furthermore, testing it during the times it acts up is tough. You could put a DMM on the signal wire and see what you're reading in real time if you wanted to.

It's easier to have a friend loan you his MAF for a day to see if it helps.

Good luck.
