Has any of you guys used or known anyone that has used the new patriot heads for the sbf. I know patriot makes real quality pieces for the 4.6 motors and LS series chev motors. These are set at a good price and seem to put out pretty decent flow numbers and what not. Does anybody have these or used them yet??

Yeah they just recently started making sbf windsor heads, they are a complete new casting, they arent ported stock heads like most of there other heads. No one has any information on them?? by the way paul I've kept up with your posts for over a year and a half now and always respected your information that you post on this site. How is the new combo you built running? I check on your site every so often to check up on the new videos and stuff.

I have seen these heads in person and they look great. They are offshore castings so I didn't expect great quality but I was really surprised. It looks like they had some clean up work already done out of the box. I'm not sure about the quality of the valvetrain components but I would have the valve springs checked before use at the very least.

These heads have 2.02 intake valves though. I noticed that in the 5.0 article they just bolted these heads on without notching the pistons. They did use a pretty small cam though. I wouldn't do this without checking and rechecking valve clearance.

oh yeah, well these heads would be going on a much more stout motor, not just a stock shortblock(which can be very capable if done right lol) but im just tossing around the idea, ive been looking at alot of different heads.

this isnt first had exp but i'v heard that they crack easy around the head bolts.

this was from a friend of a friend so theres a large possibility that human error could have messed something up during install but this just something that i have heard and i thought i would put out and see if anyone else had heard something.

with that aside i'm thinking about running them on my 351w so i may be the test dummy in the 94-95 section

Thanks all you guys for the quick answers kornnut i will check it out, i wasnt saying u were wrong or nething about them not being very quality oriented i guess ive just never done alot of research on the 4.6 stuff. thanks guys

as much as people think them articles are completely bias free...there not....im not saying there not true, but u never see them really bashing any products manufacturers give them for free...think about it...$$

I gotta echo your thoughts and add one or two more :nice:

I think info from the mags and those tv shows can be helpful
but
In no way do I put as much trust in them as I do the members here :nono:

We folk here are the end users of a product
and
We are not being paid to use them :Word:

For the most part ... I see this forum as telling it like it is ;)

Good OR Bad

Some folks on some forums do have more bias or unnecessary loyalty
to a product just because they use it and want to defend their choice
in using it

That is the thing I really do like about the internet :)

If you are willing to sift through some junk info

You will start to find reliable info
and
Find that same reliable info from multiple sources :nice:

At least ... thats how I see it :D

A buddy bought the Patriot Stage 2's for his '04 GT... they blew... he had patriot Stage 2 heads, comp Stage 2 cams, Typhoon Intake, Longtubes with O/R H-pipe, 75mm Throttle Body and 24# Injectors, had a Diablo tuner with chip, 3.73 gears, and a custom tune from Virginia speed and it ONLY MADE 265rwhp!!!!!!!!!:rlaugh:

So the general consensus Ive gathered is you get what you pay for... They are less expensive than others, and this doesnt seem to be a greatly optimistic thread about them! Im in the middle of deciding on an H/C/I combo, and after reading the article was considering them, being how low cost they are... Maybe I should reconsider after hearing some opinions in here...

I would ask if you have any goals or expectations for your Stang

If so ... Have you been able to find similar h/c/i combos that meet them

If so ... Do you think it might be beneficial to see if the parts they
used fall in line with your budget?

I ask this because of your Q about .......

Getting what you pay for
which
I usually would agree with ;)
